New infusion of light

Surely I’m not the only one who thinks the change if total trash, right ? If it goes live, I’m dropping my Hpal which I was hoping to go back to.

New infusion increases the healing of Holy Light OR reduces the mana cost of Flash of Light. This latter spell heals for nothing compared to HL, at least from what I saw on PtR. On this char HL heals for 2k6 while FoL heals for… 900 and counting. I mean the hell ?

Probably just the level 50 scaleing same thing happened in the legion and bfa pre patches if memory serves. I’ve got a level 60 on the beta I’ll log into and do some testing but from the healing I’ve done so far I remember flash being chunky. Not quite as chunky as the spenders but not bad by any means

No, it doesn’t. On my paladin, which is at 477, it heals for 1.9k in the beta and 2.4k with infusion. Some 436 isn’t going to heal more than 477. And FoL is 1336.

calm down there is no need for that. he was just relaying his experiences, no need to play the i level game. also he is relaying information from the PTR where azerite and essences are still enabled, where as on the beta they are switched off so the two really are not comparable.

but to settle this, lets have a look at max level on the beta

for reference my beta cha is 130, max hp = 25,440. so this is normal dungeon gear

unbuffed

holy light heals for 2764 (10.86% of hp) (cast time 2.3 seconds) [healing per cast time 1201.74] { mana cost 1600 healing per mana 1.73}
Flash heals for 1,896 (7.5% of hp) (cast time 1.4 seconds) [healing per second of cast time 1354.29] {mana cost 2,200 healing per mana = 0.86}

so around a 12% difference in healing with flash of light being quicker my much less mana efficient.

now lets look at infusion, so the infusion either buffs your slow cast holy light, or makes your fast cast flash of light cheaper.

flash of light with infusion costs 1540 mana changing its healing per point of mana to 1.23

holy light with infusion heals for 3506 (13.8% of hp) changing its healing per second of cast time to 1524 and its mana coefficient to 2.19)

do keep in mind also that both of these spells produce holy power when cast on a beacon target. so in essence you are looking at between 8-13% of a person hp with each spell and the decision you need to make with the infusion is can you wait that extra 1 second for the beefy holy light or do you need a faster flash to get the holy power rolling. from playing, using flash to burn mana for holy power is a really nice way to burst heal (particularly with holy avenger), where as we use holy light for more consistent healing.

i think the reason infusion makes little sense to you in that flash is intended as a mana burner now. and holy light is intended to be that big mana efficient heal. i can see why coming forma a patch where neither spell is really used outside of infusion and inside infusion you only ever really use flash if you are desperate for the big heal why this would put you off. my advice is to try it when the beta goes live, you will see there is a flow to the spec and it really dose work. it is just very different to what we have now

some additional information for reference

holy shock heals for 3130 (12.3% hp)
WOG heals for 3353 ( 13.2% of hp)
LOD heals for 939 ( 4.9% of hp on up to 5 targets )

They aren’t. Only in the shadowlands. My paladin is in dalaran.

He’s lying about how much healing the abilities do.

is it worth arguing about? ive already lain out the facts from max level. so why dose it matter?

Wow…

I think scaling has to do with it, because after watching the latest videos on Youtube about beta players testing Hpals, the numbers look entirely different.

That being said, FoL still heals for much less than HL compared to before, and the new Infusion only impacts on its mana cost. Healing/cast time will show you that FoL is still the most efficient healwise, its raw numbers remain pretty low and no more fulfills its “emergency healing spell” role.

This change, for me, is simply terrible…

correct, i feel they have changed it to an emergency holy power generator. i think the idea now is they want you to emergency wog or lod using FOL to dump mana and facilitate that while jsut about keeping a target alive.

so lets use an example lets say you just got 4 stacks of x dot and im like oh dear he is about to die. my emergency healing will look something like HOS > beacon> Flash x 3 > WOG > Flash x3 >WOG

or if its massive group dmg flashing into LOD perhaps with HA up. so you can just go shock > Lod > Flash > Lod > Flash > Lod

flash of light definitely has a completely different role now and i think infusion has just been updated to reflect that new role

I see. Tbh I didn’t think about it this way, perhaps because I haven’t played Beta myself.

So what you’re trying to say, and correct me if I’m wrong, is that Flash is more of a HP generator now, since HL is too slow to be relied upon ? That would make both of them equally viable.

I can appreciate Infusion now reducing Flash’s mana cost, but how is increasing HL’s healing is going to play out ? I can’t see think of any scenario in which it is more useful than the current version.

Correct this is I believe the intended play style.

I think the idea here is that hl is the slow and safe heal. Essentially it’s the normal filler heal while flash is the emergency heal. So I guess it’s the one they expect you to use the most when hs is on cd. I think it’s ment to be hl is the normal heal and flash is the emergency hp generator

i will also just say that ive gone back to the theory crafts and right now it do sent look liek we will be casting FOL very much at all. there isa pretty cool HL build but in most scenarios where you would use FOL spamm its better to just wings and cs into HS

for reference the HL build works like this
there is a conduit right now that causes Holy light to cleave and a legendary that doubles your infusion charges which as it stands is pretty good healing but it dose ruin you dps as a holy paladin
