New-ish (returning) player - how come Alliance seem outnumbered in WM?

So, just to preface, I’m not trying to make a rage thread or anything. I’m a returning player, and I made an ally toon - seems that the horde outnumber is in WM somewhere in the region of about 8 billion to 1, why is this? I play on a server with a heavy horde bias, but shouldn’t sharding fix this? Is there something about the horde that just makes them more PvP minded than us?

As someone who just spent more than 2 hours trying to do assault in Drustvar, dodging alliance raiding parties and running away from 10+ assasin marks, i can tell you that “alliance being outnumbered” is not true at all. If anything, it’s the horde who’s being outnumbered.

You are on one of many WM shards, each one will be slightly different situation. LfG groups, distribution, popular wqs. If they were all identical fixed balance in every subzone, the phasing to make that work would be exponentially worse than now.

Most WM players say they are outnumbered half the time or less, or never. So on average, the sharding is doing a reasonable job of maintaining balance, with only small % feeling always outnumbered.

Huh, that’s interesting. I’m not sure how sharding works exactly, but whenever I turn WM on, I always feel extremely outnumbered. This morning in the new zone it was especially bad - but it’s interesting that we seem to have opposite experiences.

i both play ally and horde alot , and from my point of view alliance DOMINATES horde in wm

I said many times that there is a problem with sharding. And everyone ignores it. From my perspective (played as a horde) on a horde dominant server, because i dont use the LFG feature (due to own principles) or use it very rarely, everywhere i go, i am outnumbered.
So the question is : why on a horde dominant server, i see more alliance than horde? The ratio i estimate is at least 3:1 for alliance.
Yesterday i was in Mechagon, the entire city was full of alliance players. I think there where at least 40-50 alliance players and i dont know if i saw 7-10 horde players. Not to mention that doing the rares in Mechagon with WM on is almost impossible. I tried for a few hours to finish that quest where you need to kill 3 rares.
The only exception, where horde dominates alliance, is during that World PvP event from Nazjatar (where you capture thoose towers and kill players). There was the only place where i saw more hordes than alliance.
On the other zones of the world, its quite the oposite.
I think this sharding works in the following way: it helps alliance by placing them on horde servers so that they smack horde and discourage them to enable WM. This is the only reasonable explanation i found.
I know, many of you will say : “Why dont you use LFG?” .
I dont use it because i see no satisfaction or joy to kill players while i have a clear advantage (larger party/group).

Lol, thats why Horde gets the normal buff and Alliance gets +20% because there are so few of them

You dont play on your server if you use WM. you play on a server group based on region and even then you get dropped into a shard of 300-400 people. they drop people in at random, so you can have 60/40, 50/50 or even 10/90 shards

Because sharding sucks. Should merge the servers so there would be a balance. I have a bad experience against alliance as horde because i am being outnumbered. I have bad experience against horde because i outnumber them and i want to sort of fight fairly, you know. Yet i get neither.
