fair enough
Now imagine missing.
People either loved it and played it like there was no tomorrow, hated it so didnāt bother after 1-5 matches or reluctantly did it for the rewards with some of them doing it more after the Plunderstorm currency rate was increased.
I did like 1 match after I hit renown 40 and then wondered why I was continuing, I was glad to be rid of it.
Nope. New mechanics need to either be entirely optional without having a chance of being optimal or near-optimal, or a direct extension of existing mechanics. You do not want to make your game unplayable to your current playerbase when looking to extend it.
For example, we got the Evoker class which has the new mechanic of āpress the button to charge your attackā which to the best of my knowledge did not exist in WoW. But it didnāt subplant the existing playstyle of classes, itās an extension not a replacement.
Maybe Blizzard could implement a āPoVā mechanic, where you can select to play in first-person point of view, and your abilities prioritize the first eligible target in your field of view without tabbing?
In a perfect world, this would be nice. But not in wow. 80% of the players have no idea how to handle the existing mechanics. If you add more, it will only cause them to cry even more than they are already doing. So as much as I would love having skill shots, for the health of the game considering the very low average skill community, not really a great idea.
Itās not a bad idea but I donāt thing itās suited for this player base.
The majority is aging and is not well know the keeping good care of their body.
This is a a shame because you just need 2 workouts at week to keep yourself healthy, you donāt need to lift weights, body weight, martial arts are more than enough to keep yourself healthy.
I would love it but not based on the current skill matrix we have, itās way too much. Plunderstorm was enjoyable because it was limited to 4 skills for a total of a bit more than 10 (16 if I recall correctly?).
I agree that this would greatly improve the accessibility of the game, because you have to reduce the number of skills available, but would for sure alienate a good amount of current players.
This was me, no lifed it for the first two days, got Renown 40, never had to take part again
Hot take Iād love it if there was a new mechanic around it and not just oh this one singular ability is there, make it something people will see not just one exception.
But I know itās a hot take and I do still enjoy tap trgeting for wow, so maybe not skillshots as much as I enjoyed plunderstorm, but it would be nice to see new mechanics overall.
No thanks.
Not very RPG like.
And personally I simply couldnāt play that game anyhow. I couldnāt play Plunderstorms (but the PVP element also played into that).
A true RPG is where the character is tested more than the player. Itās about the character being able to overcome challenges. So you build your character and progess its strengths in order to overcome stronger challenges.
In Action games based more on Player skill the character becomes irrelevant.
This is mostly why I dislike PVP as itās the least RPG aspect of WoW.
People can barely handle what we already have. I donāt want to know how the average pugs would go if they also had to think about skillshots.
Besides we sort of already have them. Things like warriorās Shockwave can be easily missed, Evokers have their breath spells and Landslide, Warlocks have Shadowfury and sometimes need to predict enemy movement to hit the stun properly since itās a cast. Iām sure people can come up with more.
As for the tab targetting, I donāt exactly like it. Iād much prefer to have a stationary list of enemies Iām in combat with, with and āin rangeā indicator. I absolutely hate sifting through heaps of nameplates to refresh my dot or finding the correct target, let alone managing to actually click it quickly when needed while the nameplates bounce around as if theyāre actively avoiding my cursor.
