New mistweaver - some questions

Hello, i have alot of experience with healers since along time, but never tried mistweaver past max level becouse they always felt weird.
I love healing in pve, and its the only role i enjoy.

Im leveling a monk ( WW mainly) and find them super fun in pvp, i also find myself good with monk toolkit that unlike with rogues im able understand properly what i should be doing without too much thinking or searching in guides. It flows really well with me, and while not yet lvl 120 i have been dominating everu bracket of arenas and bgs on damage, killing priority targets, good survavility and disruption.

So i think on maining monk and as usual with other classes im going with heal spec for pve, im enjoying fistweaving in dungeons but i have 2 questions for now:

-1- when i first use RSK and it enters in cooldown and then i use Blackout Kick with 3x Teachings of monastery, most of time times RSk resets it coldown and im able to use again. But then, when i use RSK again and if i cast Blackout Kick with 3x Teachings of monastery while RSK is on cooldown 99% of time RSK wont reset the cd.

So my question is if there is a cooldown that makes BCK with Teachings is not able to reset cd of RSk becouse it already did in the past seconds . If there is no coldown on it then theres must be another reason for it and i cant find why.

2-So the general playstyle of firstweaving is maintain and spread renewing Mist of max people possible using Renewing mists, thunder focus tea, and RSK ( and tiger palm for the 3x blackoutkick). But when heavy damage comes should i still use this abilities on coldown ( renewing mist, RSK, thunder focus, maybe teaching of monastery stacks) or should i not press them as often as possible and focus more on vivify, enveloping, maybe cast the aoe heal ( fotgot name) , leting my Renewing Mist eventualy fall off from 5-4 people to 2-3 ?

3- how is fistweaving looking for m+ in shadowlands? For raids i rather go a more ranged build

  1. “Chance” procs often have an internal, hidden cooldown. If they haven’t procced for a while, it is quite likely that the first chance they get they will proc, but then you enter the hidden cooldown and they just can’t happen for X seconds.

  2. Personally, I try to anticipate the heavy (party) damage waves, and have Essence Font ready, ideally with RSK and tea available. EF, plus double RSK can do a lot, for a large number of people.
This is good for raids; less so for dungeons. In dungeons, EF takes a back seat and it’s mostly about RM+Vivify, since you can keep it on at least 4 players.
The short version is “press what you need to press based on the damage”. RSK is an efficient heal if you have lots of RM; but you can heal a lot more with Vivify. It’s just something you get a feel for as you play

  3. Not amazing… Statistically, we’re probably better being a ranged healer. For now at least. There is a legendary that supports fistweaving, but it’s numerically not the best. You also won’t want that if you’re raiding with a different set of talents.

Of note, I will suggest checking up on your tiger palm/blackout use. Last I knew, it was better to have them 1-1 and not worry about stacking up extra kicks. I just macro them in alternation so they’re on just 1 button, and as of 7/12 mythic, I’m still parsing pretty well most of the time

  1. I’d suggest using Thunder Focus Tea on RSK instead, unless you really, really want that haste. The versatility boost is sweet. In M+, there are two basic scenarios: when you can be in melee long enough to keep renewing mist on the whole party, and when you can’t. If there isn’t much party-wide damage, then keeping renewing up and using TFT on RSK is what I’d recommend. If there’s some party wide damage, then having ReM on 2-3 targets only, and cleaving vivifies will help you top up the group. If there’s a lot of party-wide damage incoming (eg, Cragmaw’s Tantrum), then TFT + ReM for the haste, and vivify 'em all.

  2. If you enjoy fistweaving, SL looks dire. Ancient Teachings of the Monastery (the fistweaving legendary) is weak, and doesn’t synergize well with anything. For a time, Chi’ji increased our physical damage done, and that played well with ATotM, but it no longer does that. Tear of Morning is simply miles ahead of ATotM as a legendary. Chi’ji is also not quite worth it, because it’s best use is to get instant-cast enveloping mists. But to get there, you need to spend enough time in melee, whereas SL dungeons aren’t very melee friendly (nor the affixes), and at least initially in the season, when people take more damage than in later on with better gear, you will need to heal more, thus, less time for setup. In short, even with the instant enveloping mists, it’s still not worth it, because a build without Chi’ji, and with Focused Thunder simply pumps better heals, and the damage we do is negligible anyway.
