I disagree… Forsaken new models are bad compared to old ones. Even the cast animation.
Just boot-up classic check how female forsaken used to look like from Art point of view and not graphics, you will understand.

I don’t mind the new models personally; the new female Draenei is basically the same as the old one and that’s pretty much the only race I pick for live.
Obvious bait to start another “Classic is better thread” .
Leave my beautiful orc body alone
New models are fine, 100% better than the old models that made wow look like a messed up ps2 game.
Your allowed an opinion yes, however the old ones are just simply not supported and now the models are actually on par with sets in terms of pixels etc, + with the new models the characters can actually express emotion better through emotes etc.
so there isn’t really any point to keep the old models supported as it would mean double the work for blizzard to fit the sets twice to both new and old models instead of just new and any future animations would need to be done on them separate too to ensure the model wouldn’t look scuffed.
Only issue with the new models is trying to cater to alot of people, you will never please everyone.
Personally atleast given this is the race I’ve opted for and played since Cataclysm I can’t help but think they’ve done justice with the model updates. I feel aslong as the core audience is mostly happy with it, I can’t see what else they could of done since people were well aware and had more than enough time to give PTR Feedback like all the people who were, who have been long anticipating for the models.
Not really, have you seen undead for example? It’s completely ruined.
As for (most) other models, I mostly like the new appearance of them but I found the old animations better. Walking/casting/meele animations were much smoother on the old models.
If you think the old models look better than perhabs you should make an apointment to have your eyesight checked.
Animations for the most part are fine, but the running animations (looking at you night elf) have been way off, although some have been “fixed”.
On a graphical scale yes the old models did look dated but almost all the new models suffer from the same face syndrome.
To me it would have been better if they would just started from clean table and redone the whole character creation tool instead of trying this half hearted trying to please the muh characters mole is 2cm wrong place crowd.
I don’t know about goblins but I like my male worgen’s new running animation. Still I miss casting animation tho, I miss swinging my arms like Mozart when using spells.
Oh, yeah, cause you could do /so/ much better.
This is so not true, you must be blind or something?
Not all updates are improvements (not all are bad either ofc). I’ve not yet looked at my worgens or goblins in detail since the changes were made. So I’m not really in a position to comment on those yet.
I still don’t understand why half the eye choices for female gnomes make them look like they have bags under their eyes.
I just wish the armor of old would get a facelift.
Because some of the armor have really good design, but the pixel count is pretty bad and makes it stand out.
That would be amazing.
I understand what you mean OP. With the old models like Orc for example there was a great variety of face types that all looked different and distinct. But for the new models I feel many just look too similar to each other and lost the personalty the respective face had (Gnomes above are another good example).
Not to say the new models are bad, they are an upgrade in many facets but I feel Blizzard missed the mark here.
I just can’t understand how anyone can think those old ones looked better. Now, having said that; almost all of the current female gnome faces don’t appeal to me and I basically just use 1 of them. But the old ones were ALL Bad.
For me it’s the eyes mostly. Some of the faces have such a degree of ‘raging psychopath’ that I just don’t want to use that face. If eyes and face were seperate that would solve a lot of the problems I have with the current selection.
It’s not so much that the old ones ‘look better’ but more about the diversity they provided. The faces actually look different to each other, whilst the modern models suffer in that regard and that is what people dislike.
I can understand that (and agree with it; I too wish there was more diversity in the faces and way way way more choices). But there’s people literally saying they think the old faces looked better and I would go so far as to say that it’s a FACT that the new faces look better.
Not all of the models have been improvements such as the Night Elf Male, but yes, it was pointless to waste resources on keeping the old models supported in Retail. It was obviously just a transitional option when they allowed players to toggle and they slowly fazed them out in the background.
Except for some identical faces the new models are better in every way, even if some like the Nelf Male I mentioned have lots of issues.
For me problem is those bulging eyes of the new faces and similarity of them. In old ones faces looked different from eachothers, some were ugly and some were pretty but they were unique. And eyes didn’t look like they are going to pop out in any second.
