Hello!
It would be quite amazing if an OPTION for new character models was introduced into the classic and TBC. I have several friends who wouldn’t play older titles because of the old models. And the majority of roleplayers are reluctant to move over as well, although quite a few enjoy old lore more than the recent expansions.
If there’s some sort of advantage that you expect to get with old/new models in PvP, then just restrict arenas and battlegrounds to old models.
I want to emphasise that I’d like the OPTION for new models that you can check in settings, so that both camps can be happy.
PS: Maybe give that option for RP servers only, so that there would finally be more RPers joining and wanting to play. Or introduce a “yes changes” RP server with some graphical and quality updates.
I get that old models aren’t perfect but I don’t get why anyone would want the new ones either. They are so cartoony and look way more retarded and its legit one of the reasons I wouldn’t want to play retail. Take the new human male model for example. Their running animation is so bouncy and stupid it’s hard to take them serious when they run around…
That’s why I’m asking for an option. I want them. I know people who want them. I’m not saying forbid old models by introducing new ones. I’m asking to find a way to have the option to play with both, adjust animations or make it work. Sure it requires some work, but it’s not impossible at all, there are private servers that introduce that, whilst preserving classic gameplay just fine. Some people seem to be adverse to new models as if they’d be denied old ones.
I find it comical that people can so vehemently say no to an optional graphics setting that does not affect them in any way. Like, what is wrong with you? Do you also shout at random people on the street? It’s sheer insanity.
Yeah, I would never ever turn on new models, but I don’t see any harm in the switch button being there. /shrug
There are two things I prefer in retail: the updated models and transmogrification.
That said, the main issue with incoprorating the new models into classic is that they aren’t exactly congruent with the overall graphics of the rest of the game. It would look kind of weird to have character models that have more polygons than the entire map of Outland and all it contents combined. So I don’t think it would be a good idea.
No, you really could not. You can see the results of micro transactions in the game around you, while you can not even tell how the models look client-side for anyone. They would look like old models if you had those selected, obviously. I mean, this ia not hard to understand.
Many of the microtransactions in the game are mounts and pets, i.e. things that don’t affect other players. So if the argument is “It’s optional and doesn’t affect you”, it’s the same for those.
But that is not my argument. Are you mentally impaired?
Edit: My argument is that you can not even see who uses what models client-side, so it can not possibly affect you in any way, not even immersion-wise. Therefor it is comical to be against it.
They can’t fix bugs with not working stats on green items or visual effect of aoe spells and you want them to spend houndreds of hours to implement this feature.
Not only it gonna serve small fraction of playerbase with making angry majority of classic community. But also you would enjoy it for couple month at best as I dont belive that someone who doesn’t like old school style of game going to spend more time with TBC.
Most of the people who want retail-like changes are going to play until 9.1 is released. Thats why in my opinion Blizz shoulnd’t change anything at all.
