New novel excerpt SPOILER

Madeleine Roux seems really talented and I enjoyed reading that excerpt! I like the way she portrayed Nathanos and I am also enjoying Sira’s behaviour, she is clearly lost and not taking death well despite claiming she is and fighting for it.
It is a shame Sira as an undead has just been introduced and will be probably killed soon, I’d like to know more about her and see her eventually accepting her state of undeath.

From all the excerpts I have read so far, was this one the most interesting of them. Madeline Roux is clearly a quality raise in terms of writing compared to the likes of Christie Golden mostly.

I liked first exerpt the most because it finally gave an answer on Zandalari and Horde relationship.

There’s actually a lot I like about the new excerpt as well, mainly small lore bits that serve to paint a clearer picture about how things stand after the war.

Such as the information that the Zandalari have apparently regained control over Nazmir again by now, which is great news.

The White Widow followers have always hated and feared Bwonsamdi and his influence on the royal family, so I don’t find it implausible that they would team up with Sylvanas loyalists to kill him- but we see clearly that this collaboration is rather marriage of convenience than love match, and neither really trusts the other.

One of my favourite parts is when Apari gives Sira a taste of her magic.
Seems like having a million spiders crawling up your back is unpleasant even for Undead. She doesn’t seem to like insects either. Can sympathize with her here

I very much like Nathanos’ portrayal as well.
So he uses cologne ( from Crown Chemical Co.? ) but not to cover body odour but the complete absence thereof. Interesting. I also like the “pale rider” title and the fact that he still keeps mementos such as his Ranger Lord badge.

Another interesting piece of information for me was that Sylvanas still has the Banshee’s Wail. Makes me wonder what happened to dread admiral Tattersail.

And we get another confirmation for the power of loa being highly dependent on the number of their worshippers and the tributes they give them.

I was wondering how Nathanos and Sira could even hope to be a match for Bwonsamdi, but weakening him by destroying his shrines makes sense.
( And we know he’ll be fine and emerge victorious in the Otha Side dungeon so it’s all good )

All in all, a good read and I’m really looking forward to the book.

As a side note, i honestly enjoyed that bit too.
It had an overall “voodoo” theme that seemed extremely fitting for trolls. Reminded me of the D3 class spells, and imagining how the scene would’ve gone, was quite enjoyable.

Gave some “Old crone magic” kind of vibe that aced the portrayal of the character.

Although i did have to reread the excerpt to make sure Nathanos wasn’t in fact making a deal with a Blood Troll instead of a Zandalari. The tone did seem to fit their tribe a lot.

Also liked this term. Gave some additional vibes about native Americans addressing outsiders. Fitting for the aesthetics trolls have on Zandalar.

oh good, more scrappy doo content. that’s what everyone was crying out for.

sira sucks as well. she should’ve slapped nathanos.

hopefully they’ll both die in the first dungeon of shadowlands and we can forget they ever existed.

Nathanos will run away on 10% as world boss. This dude has the same plot armor as Sylvanas. He will survive.
The only 3 popular persons that will die in Shadowlands will be Jailor Tyrande and Sira. Because Night Elves lives are not matter, and Jailor is the main bad guy of the expansion.

In the Alliance WarCompain Nathanos managed to defeat a player (player with Azeroth heart on it, hero that kills Titans)…
So he got some skills…

As for Sira… that moment when Night Elves fan hopes that a Night Elf will die, and a troll will win…

Who said any of these were popular?

Honestly, it’s becoming rather irksome to read the nonstop wailing and doomsaying from certain NE stans…

Well, i m sure that Tyrande is not in danger. She ll become a unique night warrior who will survive.
There are two reasons why I think so. First, Tyrande is the Alliance character, and usually the Horde characters are expendable.
Secondly, she`s one of the mascots of this game universe. Therefore, Tyrande will be with us to the end.

  1. Not the whole world is out to make Nightelves cry.
  2. It’s disgusting to use the phrase Nightelf lives don’t (are not is not really english in this sentence.) matter in the context of a game. I know it’s an easy to use phrase, but there are real people dying in the real world, trying to make the world see their problems and using their slogan is just URGH!

Is that was a joke?)

Night Elves lost everything. And now will lose their main leader(last thing that they have left). And the undead monster that took everything from them, will become a hero just because its favorite Blizzard character(according to interview).
Is obvious that whining is the only thing that we have left…

First Night Warriors that manage to save their world, could not take such powers after, and have lost their lives.
And Tyrande, an elf that cannot kill even Nathanos, will manage to hold those powers?

Nope, Tyrande is gone for 100%.

Well I think that Steve Danuser actually has a hidden mission to do everything he can, to make Night Elves suffer.

Its not disgusting. The Idea of that mem already spreaded in the world and applies to everything where additional “eyes” are needed.
As for the real people and issue in the real world - its only an additional bonus that we pointing it out all the time. So, its helps actually.

Yea but Bwonsamdi could simply chose not to appear? He is making his followers to do some stuff for him like Deathwalkers family.

Well no wonder, she is a ridiculous and unlikeable character she is being defensive over a guy who killed her for crying out loud.

You forgot that there’s an out baked into the information.
She survives if she can find a way to spread the power among a number of vessels instead of holding it on her own. Conveniently showing a way to bring really cool Nightelf Paladins into the game.

For all the people commenting on Sira being well written, I am just bewildered, what exactly was so interesting about Sira here?

I honestly liked her style of writing but I hope it won’t be a silly boring novel.

perhaps you’ve read half of the datamined text? The people that tried to spread the Night Warriors powers ended up dead, in addition the vessels are in the shadowlands and are a part of it.

No. I genuinely doubt that each and every single player considers them popular.

No they did not.
And comparatively speaking, they aren’t even at the Top 5 “Rock bottom” ranking.

I personally like the shift from automatic killer robot, to having certain insight regarding how she personally feels and thinks.
And I was looking at the portrayal itself, not at the overall character.

This means it hasn’t worked yet, not that it can’t work.
Why even mention the possibility if not to set up this conclusion.

Well Tyrande does love Malfurion more than everything, and Malfurion have been missing in Shadowlands. For a couple of addons Tyrande was always saving Malfurion, while he was playing an neutral role.

Maybe it does a time when finally Malfurion will actually do something and will save Tyrande.
If Tyrande will manage somehow spread the powers with Malfurion, and they will become like 2 couples of Elune, it will become an nice story ending. Illidan did tell that they will have some steps to save the world like a couple.

Together with Thrall - a hope for a heroes. Thing that we miss recently. Especially human paladins. Only Turallion left.

Well said. However they could do the complete opposite for shock value as well. Let’s wait and see.

I think they will leave Malfurion in Azeroth this expansion since he is not referenced at all and Shandris will be the one saving or helping Tyrande.

Cmon, It`s just a typical storyline cliche when they say that no one has ever survived, but the main character will survive. There’s nothing new here.
In this game, popular heroes dont go away forever.
