New PC - Need advice

Hi all,

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my current PC for some time now. However, i’m not much of a pc-builder, let alone putting together the right components. Therefore, I come to you guys for advice, for a functional PC, mainly used for World of Warcraft, and occasionally Football Manager.

Budget: 3000-3500 euros.

I’ve been trying to read through the forums regarding suggestions to likewise builds, and i’ve come up with the following:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor

GPU: MSI Gaming Trio OC Plus GeForce RTX 5070 TI 16 GB

CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming Wifi ATX AM5

Memory: 2x Corsair Vengeance RBG 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL36

Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB SSD

Power: Corsair RM850e

Extra fans: NZXT F120 RGB

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case

Now i’m not sure if it would make sense to swap some parts for others, or if I should add more fans, use a different cooler or if i’m overlooking something crucial.

Regarding GPU, would it be better to go for a 4000 series card, or something else entirely?

I appreciate any kind of help, so please don’t hesitate to reply

This is my first time ever putting together a PC build, and also building it myself, and i’m excited to see how it’ll turn out.

Is this 4x 8? Or 4x 32?
Anyways, i would not recommend going for 4 sticks if you don’t need to.
It increases instability risk.

Otherwise the build is fine, except the 5070 TI seems a bit overkill if you only play WoW and Football Manager

Maybe just get a 4070 Super or so cheap.

Which resolution are you playing at btw?

Hey, thanks for quick answer!

It was a typo. It was meant as 2x 32GB  my bad!

My current resolution is 2560x1440. I wouldn’t mind being able to upgrade this in the near future, as I might consider upgrading my monitor at some point.

I was looking at the 4070 and 4080 series too, but somehow their price points are not that far off from the 5070 TI, which was my main reason to choose it.

I really appreciate you helping me out! Thank you so much!

I don’t know where you’re from but here in Germany the cheapest 4070S is 670€ and the cheapest 5070 TI is 830, so 160€ difference.

The 5070 TI has 16GB of VRAM and is almost 40% faster, so i would say it makes sense to get one over the 4070S if you can afford it
Especially if you wanna go 4K at some point.

I live in Finland, originally from Denmark, and the pricing is close to what you listed

Do you think I have enough fans / cooling for the system?

Not sure I want to recommend Nvidia cards right now, their drivers have been a bit of a issue as of late, hardware is okay bar some issues with 12v 2x6 but can’t see a 5070 using as much power to be a problem, like the 5080 upwards.

For ram, yeah, 2x 16gb sticks would be better for Ryzen than moving to 4 sticks of ram so if you can go that route. DDR5-6000 is good enough without overclocking the cpu ram controller.

Unless you want to use USB4 devices, X870 Extreme chipset might be a bit overkill really. B850E chipset would be an option if you need to make changes for price, the 9800X3D would work okay on that motherboard. But if you need the extra NVME slots, stick with the board you picked.

As for PSU, try and up that to at least 1,000 to 1,200watts, gives a bit more breathing room for any future upgrades in the future. (Due to nvidia increasing power on each generation)

But back to GPU again, the RTX40 series has had issues with some drivers but that’s due to whatever is going on with Geforce driver developers lately, they’re not been as great with recent updates. Better stable drivers with Intel/AMD right now but driver situation can change so, I would say it be what you’re willing to pay.

4070/4080 would do decently with gaming with a 9800X3D, depends on resolution the monitor will be and framerate you’re looking at with refresh rate of said panel.

I’m still using version 572.16 which is a couple months old now and have had no issues so far with my 4090.

Supposedly the december driver is the best for the 40 series if you are having issues.
You can get them from the Nvidia website archive.

50 series seems to have way more issues though.
