Hey everyone,
just wanted to share my experience after upgrading from a ~3 year old gaming laptop to a budget-friendly desktop build. My main goal was to get something that runs WoW smoothly without spending crazy money on high-end parts.
My new specs:
• MB: ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2+
• CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X + Spartan 5 Max
• RAM: Kingston 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
• GPU: RX 7700 XT 12GB
• SSD: Samsung 980 1TB
• Case: Fractal Design Pop Air
• PSU: Gold certified 700W
Performance in WoW:
• In Dornogal I’m getting around 85–100 FPS on very high/mostly maxed settings.
• In raids up to 20 people, performance is about the same.
• I mainly play Mythic+, and there I’m basically glued to the 144Hz refresh rate of my monitor.
I bought almost everything as brand-new but open-box pieces, which helped keep the budget down. In total, including SSD, case and PSU, the whole build came to just under 900 €.
For me this just proves that you don’t need a super expensive, high-end rig to enjoy WoW at great settings and framerates. The cost/value of going beyond this setup really isn’t worth it unless you play other, much more demanding games.
Overall I’m super happy with this upgrade – WoW feels smooth, responsive, and it didn’t break the bank. And honestly, I’m confident this build will last me without issues even when the upcoming Midnight expansion launches.
