So my pc just gave up the ghost and I need a new rig for playing wow.
Now the only game I play is wow and torn between a laptop for flexibility or a desk top for power.
Does anyone have any advice?
My buget would be 700-1000 pounds

Desktop for sure. You can use screen, case and psu if it’s good from machine you already have.
Go for an Amd x3d processor they have better single core performance which is better for WoW
… I was in a similar boat a few months ago - got a deal with these guys - ok I am in the UK
I’d go for PC. My brother had 2 Lenovo Legions and both died shortly after warranty.
Thanks! This website is awesome! I am a bit out my depth with modern pcs specs though. My current pc has a GTX 1060 graphics card and some of the wow builds on here still recommend it.
If i am to fork out for a new pc id like to future proof it for the next 3-4 years. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a specific graphics card manufacturer thats better for wow?
If you have a Costco card consider looking with them too, they get builds from companies like Cyberpower which sometimes come with decent specs for the price.
I was looking at the prebuilds on the site and seen this. Is it overkill or good for future proofing? Customise Ultra 77 Super Next Day PC SY1804 Gaming PC | CyberPowerPC UK
I was like you too, had no idea what I needed to future proof, so contacted them
I sent them a message with my current spec, told them I needed a hybrid type pc - gaming/study stuff and needed to work for Wow and to last awhile. I didn’t tell them my budget straightaway and they came back with a spec, I then gave them my budget and they tweaked the spec for me. No pressure etc, thought about it and then took the plunge.
No harm you trying for yourself and see what they come back with, you can always say you have changed your mind. Would also do what Chasbo said about seeing Costco if you are a member there
… if it helps, I didn’t spend that much on my new one, seems to work perfectly well for me
Great! Thanks for your help, its much appreciated. Ill drop them a line.
I think my main worry is i buy the pc and then i want to play a non wow game and it doesnt run. Id at least want to play wow on max or close to max specs as much as possible for the next 2-3 years at least.
I have a ps5 so if its not wow i tend to just use that instead.
Just tell them about that too - not just wow etc - sure they can help
I gave the wrong contact info so deleted it off my thread - support@cyberpowersystem.co.uk - double check on the website
perfect! Thanks again!
this is 100% future proof for anything for 4 years as you said.
it is overkill for just WoW, but take it from someone who bought this exact pc a week ago - i get a stable 80 fps in wow everywhere (i cap it in wow) on maxed out settings and i’m playing Horizon Forbidden West right now on 1440p Ultra at 160 fps. Its a really nice pc. I bought it from that site, too.
if all you play is wow you could probably save £500 and buy something cheaper. but if you do a lot of single player gaming that one is a great choice imo.
Thanks Leeches! That sounds great! Ive set up a chat with them so see whats on offer but i am keen on the one i linked.

If can build self then order parts there and there and slap together for desktop build what you want, if wont build self or have buddy to help out then some prebuild pc but desktop definitely
I like building my own to get what I want and Im not any it wizard but still been able build my own pcs always, especially these days theres less error to be made and you cant really break anything, just look reviews for parts and put cables into places where manuals say to put them or the pc wont start and then you try again. This is if care start building own but the prebuilds are fine aswell, the benefit of having bit understanding of the parts is that you can replace some as years go forwards so you save money by just upgrading some parts on it.
I had an Alienware gaming laptop, and after about a year, the keyboard started to fall apart, which was a pain because the keyboard was part of the laptop.
Now if I had a desktop I could just buy a cheap 50£ keyboard but instead, I had to ship my laptop out to get fixed.
I hope it’s not off-topic but what do you think about mini pcs? For example minisforum, beelink, aoostar offer good variety of mini pcs.
