New Player - No one takes me to raid party

The OP is not excluded from content, but rather other people are simply more suitable for the content than he is.

He probably plays a DD, like 80% of the players. There are probably 30 DD’s or more signing up for a HC raid. In addition, these people have even more ILVL and probably more XP.

There are just so many solutions to the problem, which isn’t really a problem at all.

  1. start your own group.
  2. play healer or tank
  3. find a community or a guild (there are several offers in this direction)

I’ve never had a problem getting into a raid so far. Even if I had to sit out two complete seasons like in SL, where I hadn’t played Season 1 and Season 2, but was still able to get back into S3 without any problems.

If you are one of several people in the queue and also have below-average ilvl and no XP, then the problem is obvious.

Blizzard should have released a kind of solo queue for M+ and Raid several expansions ago. The raid system is incredibly outdated and only a very small fraction of players still play raids beyond the LFR. So why keep the completely antiquated system and not overhaul it?

WoW is ripe with people who have contempt for letting other players get the same as they have.

No, the community are responsible for how they treat newcomers and how they behave. If you really think this is just a problem for blizzard you are being narrow minded.

This is excluding them from content. You have a truly elitist attitude trying to dictate what content people are “suitable” for.

Not everyone is comfortable with creating and managing a raid group. Simply playing tank or healer is not an answer. OP might not like tanking or healing. Finding a community defiantly the winning bet.

That’s great, But we are talking about a newcomer here, who is struggling to get into content because of the elitist, gatekeeping community that you support.

This would go against your AOTC, Ilev mind set.

Maybe they would be able to raid outside LFR if they could actually get into a group. Instead everyone is obsessed with Min Maxing the raid.

There’s a discord community im part of names Chill Streaks, they do raiding and M+ of every difficulty and pretty much anyone can sign up for a raid day. Might be worth taking a look.

Sorry, but I can’t blame raid leaders, who choose clean and fast run instead of hours of wipes, if game allows that. Developers made the rules of the game. Players just follow the rules finding the optimal way of achieving their goals. You can’t blame people because they take easier path instead of harder one.

Have you tried joining a guild sir?

That’s usually the best way to join a raid.

Most PUG raids in the LFG tool are people with Raid experience trying to gear up their alts.

Inviting at least 1 non AOTC player isn’t going to tank the raid. This exact shoddy attitude is what turns people away from the game and content within it.

You make excuses for the community gate keeping for the sake of a “clean and fast run” what ever happened to just playing the game.

It’s not even only for aotc. Why would you ever invite a player without any exp whatsoever and 460 ilvl when 40 other dps are in the queue with 1-9 hc exp and 470+?

Why would you ever invite him? It just makes no sense.

So they can gain some experience and take part in the game. It’s not that hard to fathom.

While i agree with the community problem, i struggle to see, how one can enforce something like this. You can not force RLs take newcomers, unless it is an automated queve.

May be, the more newcomers you have in the raid, the better gear drops or something like that

They could implement a buff for taking non curve players that allows an extra item to drop per boss.

Any way to include and attract more people to the game and content within it would be a healthy step in my books.

Not sure what realm you are on but you can try join Rohnin International Guild or you can join their community.

Otherwise try find a guild to join.

As does
Rohnin International
Frog Legion Generals

They are also two extremely friendly and helpful communities. There only requirements are that you at least know your class, have all gems and enchants and be raid ready.

OP is asking for semi-serious PvE , in MMO, therefore:

Proactive part (you can do by yourself)

  1. Review one-off stuff and maintain diligence to your approach. Best enchants, talents, consumes, basic overview of rotation and its core principles.
  2. Create a plan for you character, normal raid is ilvl capped at 476 so there is room for improvement.
  3. Dip at least partially to M+ for some experience.
  4. Prepare your tank and heal specs to at least basic function. Adaptability is your biggest strength in the beginning.

Reactive part (community, networking and social skills)

  1. Register on warcraftlogs and raider io, learn how to use them. You can always ask here or in the game if you need quick overview.
  2. Work on your logs - you would not believe how many pugs are done not in Wow but on warcraftlogs app. Again, don’t be afraid to ask.
  3. Don’t neglect networking with the people you meet there, so you can build your list of invites. Use this to leverage your own runs, normal/hc can be done with 10 people only.

You’re free to do that in your own group, but forming and managing a pug takes a fair bit of work, and people want to succeed, not re-progress the same content every week. The general mentality of pugs are farm runs, and forcing people with different expectations into the same group always ends in disaster.
There’s communities and guilds for progression, and that’s where new players should be. Ofc it’s possible to pug your way through heroic without having done it with a guild, but it’s extremely time consuming and not necessarily fun.

Artificial, unbalanced, easily abusable, promotes NOT getting curve so you get more loot next week etc…
Horrible idea.

Forming a group is possibly the easiest its ever been, the exception being looking for tanks and healers. Brining along even 1 lower geared and less experienced DPS isn’t going to break the raid, its only HC.

Ideally yeah, but should a player choose to not want to be apart of a community and only pug, this shouldn’t be as big of an issue than its being made to be. The barrier to entry is ludicrous and can also be bypassed by people that have been boosted.

Care to make a suggestion? or do you just want to defend gate keeping and elitism? no wonder participation is at an all time low.

Seriously, how hard would it be to give matey a chance? I find it unbelievable that not one person has the heart to take on a less experienced player. And for what? clearing the raid slightly faster? even if they couldn’t perform and were really failing on specific mechanics, it’s not like you couldn’t kindly uninvite them and pick up a new DPS.

join a guild or make your own grp, you probably have 0 progress on heroic raid, no wonder people won’t take you on hc grp since they assume you have 0 experience/ knowledge as well, usually it takes curve ( last boss hc kill ) to freely join premade hc raid groups.

please stop suggesting new players to form their own groups. i’m having the same issue Lentorias i just saw this thread. so it’s not about you. wow has a terrible pug experience so if it’s not a problem for you you should join a guild. use the guild finder to filter the raiding guilds & send applications to the active ones (usually shows their progress with rio ) if you can’t do guilds then let’s hug because i can’t either and we’re doomed.

Yeah you got to be early if you are into raiding. if you after a few weeks havent gotten the achievement yet the chances of getting into a pug is very small.

You probably should look for a guild and ask if they also take beginners with them.

But you also could join a community. There is a community recruitment tab on the forums. Its basicly a guild without the guild bank. You should be able to find some raiding ones there

I’m not going to argue your faulty assumption that this is about gatekeeping or elitism.
“ECHO isn’t taking me into RWF, what a bunch of elitist gatekeepers”.
Their group, their rules.

If you think it’s easy to host a full HC, go ahead and do it. Invite whoever you want. Be the change you want to see. And when your group falls apart for the 10th time, maybe you’ll realize why people are picky.
Guilds and communities give everyone a chance because the experience stays with them for the next week. Some pugs are willing to donate experience to the global pug pool, but ofc most people don’t like to join them as they rarely get the curve kill.
And I’ve known a few people who think they’re so good and prepared that they deserve to get straight into a kill group.

This attitude is the reason people do background checks. You’ve just summed up in one sentence why players distrust each other.
