New player seeking guidance

Greetings,

I am completely new to WoW but being a D&D player i picked Argent Dawn as I am interested in roleplaying and i find Warcraft lore fascinating.

I understand that there is some open-world RP but most of the RP is guild-based, my question is whether there are any neutral druid Guilds or anything of the sort.

I enjoy playing as a Tauren druid so i would very much enjoy setting scenarios of nature healing a longside fellow druids
( like healing the scourge’s scar in blood-elf lands)

I would also like to know what is the state of open-world PvP or guild based PvP (such as PvP-Raids ~meaning orcish raids on alliance lands~ for example) and other cool stuff like that.

From reading about on the forums i understood that most people aren’t really active on the dungeoneering/raiding scene. Is this true?

Cheers!

Firstly, welcome!
As for neutral druid guilds, I don’t know of any, but I know there are discord communities and in game communities for such, one which I admin that is strictly for druids, and would be more than happy to welcome you into if you give me a poke on discord for a link! (Belinda#9967)

There is quite a bit of travelling neutral RP I’m involved in, along with other druids, which we’re always looking for more people to take part, be they “horde or alliance” neutral. Cross faction rp to save the planet is better than doing it one sided!

Open world rp-pvp from what I’ve seem tends to be limited to the rp-pvp events, with not much regarding PvP outside of them, although I could be wrong about that…
I would say that Argent Dawn, although an RP realm is still active in the PvE scene, myself being an officer in a raiding guild. That doesn’t mean they don’t RP if they are PvE guilds however!

TLDR: Guild RP is normally a bigger focus, with neutral RP bound to communities, rp-pvp seems to be bound to server events and PvE is definitely a thing on this server

Hope this helps!

Edit: oh! There’s also the RP_Announce server which is a server discord for finding any form of rp!

Hello and welcome to Argent Dawn!

To answer your questions in chronological order:

  1. Most of the -faction- open world RP tends to sadly lead in favour of being guild based, though it’s still possible to find RP while being guildless.

  2. There does exist neutral guilds though they are a bit difficult to find and with most you rely on finding one for your faction due to the faction barrier, however there does exist some who either have and Alliance and Horde equivalent, or are held together through third party software, like Discord.

  3. Open world PvP is something that only really occurs during RP-PvP campaigns that get advertised on the forums, though there are times where two guilds will organize a battle between them in private.

  4. It is not true at all. There exists a lot of guilds purely dedicated to PvE and PvP on AD and I know plenty of RP’ers who also spends the time they’re not RP’ing on doing mythic+ dungeons and raids (note that the minority of RP-focused guilds invests a lot of time into PVE).

Ps. Argentarchives(dot)org is frequently used to advertise Horde/Alliance/Neutral events to Argent Dawn, I also advise you look for neutral rp discord communities (like the one Allania can get you into). The Discord server RP_Announce is used to advertise Horde/Neutral/Alliance RP across -all- RP servers on WoW.

Thank you for having me! I very much appreciate the replies from my fellow druids, both of you!

I will contact you on Discord Allaniae travelling/neutral RP sounds very interesting to me, indeed.

If i could add two more questions to the ones above, i would like to ask if there is some form of structured PvP like matches or something i like that?

I know a simple wiki search would answer this and surely i would like to know the basics about it, i.e is the gear normalized in sPvP or do you use your own gear, things like that. BUT i am looking more for player input in this topic.

Maybe there is such a mode and is unfavorable for certain classes or the sPvP community is toxic. You know, Information and knowledge that comes with experience, that sort of thing.

I would also like to know whether or not anyone knows of any “Explorers” type-guilds. I am thinking of also playing as a mage and the arcane-researcher/scholar-explorer archetype seems very appealing.

Sorry to bother you all with these questions but as i said in my first post i have never played WoW before in my life and the world is truly immense

Thanks for reading, i hope you have a nice day!

I don’t think so, I think a good number of AD players do Dungeons [raids I’m not sure]. Keep in mind that most WoW players don’t generally use the forums and AD is no exception.

Personally speaking I was part of an AD [OOC] based guild that was constantly doing dungeons which I sometimes joined but from an RP standpoint it never felt right so I stopped queuing for them.

Spellweavers Symposium on the Alliance side is a Mage guild I believe. If not, I’ll also be able to pass you a link for the Mage community

Alright thank you very much for the info so far it is greatly appreciated!

Do IG communities alter anything in regards to phasing, sharding etc? Or are they just chat channels for people to connect?

Thing is, why does the map seem so empty? I stumble upon a couple of people in Ogrimmar and some in the Ghostlands but other than that questing around the barrens feels like a single-player experience. Do i have to toggle war-mode to see more people?

Also if someone could share some more information regarding Structured pvp mode/matches that’d be great!

Cheers!

Oh? Is this true? but i see so many [H-RP] tags on the threads here and there are a bunch of Horde related events in the calendar sticky…

Re-rolling to alliance would be a big drawback for me as i actually support Thrall’s Horde that’s the sort of RP i was looking to get into. I am a Sylvanas-hating Tauren Druid and i very much enjoy that.

There’s currently an RP-PVP event in Silverpine which alot of the Orgrimmar based guilds are at.
Other than that, I think, most horde guilds are dotted around the world. You just have to find the right hub for you.
Neutral RP hubs tend to be located around Uldum and Booty Bay

It is not true, no. Horde has plenty of RP going on. It is mostly guild-based however, so I recommend you find a good and social guild for your tauren. If you wish to RP as Thrall’s Horde tauren, then I suggest hat you give Frozen Paw Clan a try. As for other guilds, there is a Splitshield Tribe for tauren (neutral but not sure if they are still active), Blood Howl and Bloodstained Unity to name a few.

As for the neutral communities, I recommend you get in touch with the Voice of Azeroth community. They are a neutral community of people who focus on gathering azerite for Magni and helping heal the azerite wounds over the world while stopping those who would gather azerite to destroy the world.

Good luck mate. o/

This is very much untrue, Mannoch, don’t worry. For some reason this person has a hatred of Horde that she apparently feels the need to regurgitate onto every single thread. It’s unfortunate but some people on the forum prefer being toxic to helpful, which is doubly annoying of course when you come as a new player seeking actual advice. On that note:

 Welcome to Argent Dawn!!!

I can tell by your posts you’ve already found the calendar sticky and all the many great guild threads out there, so you’re off to a good start!

Many Horde guilds are currently engaged in Silverpine in a pretty cool RP-PvP campaign. Unfortunately, due to the heavy planning involved you can’t join in, but they should be done sometime mid-to-late next week, I think.
There’s several great Thrall-inspired guilds out there, but I’d really recommend Frozen Paw Clan (currently in Silverpine). Simply because I’ve been in it so I know what a great guild leader and officers they have. It’s very active - 15-20 people online at event hours - and there’s almost always someone doing something content-related outside of RP.
Also the clan leader Rogmasha is quite famed these days for having stood against the established Sylvanas practices, while still fighting for the Horde. There’s mostly stuff about it on the old forum, but it’s covered slightly in the paper:

and
https://www.argentarchives.org/node/222950

Unfortunately, I can’t think of any neutral druid guilds that are horde based. There is the Cenarion Guardians on Alliance. There is, however, a discord community for druids, which @Kump has been kind enough to extend his help to join:

Hope you find what you’re searching for and have a grand time RPing here! It’s very different from DnD (which still occupies my own Saturdays) but no less fun!
