New Tools of the Trade questlines will provide profession users will a special item that they can use. We've summarized the items below, see the screenshot for the specific wording.

Enchanting: Use 1 Veiled Crystal to animate an inert golem. Gain extra resources when disenchanting.
Engineering: Summons an Ub3r to assist you for 20 seconds (5 min cooldown). Enbales the engineer to construct Ub3r-constructs.

So here is the missing Khazgorian hammer.
I will be quite interested in seeing what the alchemy sphere does.
Always lovely to get more DE mats from enchanting
The Jewelcrafting one is amazing, ability to unsocket gems, as well to gain gems from shrines. The text in the screenshot says focusing light into the shrines to create a geode of gems.
Like missions can bring in resources. You know the rates.
And the resource items for Missions is not worth it. The chance is simply too tiny.
Not enough, like the enchanting and JC one but these seems additions that doesn’t fix the problems. Mainly nothing worthile to craft. Only usefull proffessions in my eyes are in order: Herbalist > alchemist and cooking and fishing (feast). For the rest there are too many mats going around (See most skinning stuff) or just isn’t it (JC, no sockets are native and max IL is just 300 and 340 in 8.1).
Well I’m a bit illustrous about the alchemy sphere… But blizzard sort of miss the ball when it comes to professions. What makes professions successfull in most other RPG’s are it’s gameplay value. The fact you can craft interactable or usefull objects, for yourself and others regardless if your leveling, doing end game or just RP around with friends. Sure blizzard have added stuff like pets etc in the past to professions, which still keeps them mildly interesting.
FFXIV for example have made their professions an entier class system, with even furniture able to be crafted. TESO always have crafted gear as a source for decent gear trought it’s style mechanics(basicly adds set bonuses to items). The point is, these profession systems are a part of the games design.
In WoW profession items except Alchemy and enchanting, then a selected few items from other professions are useless. Heck I’d even argue that what makes some professions still worthwhile are some patterns from previous expansions.
BFA patterns are basicly dead once you start do normal/hc dungeon content, so adding patterns ain’t really helping much.
The skill level system are basicly just a means to add substance free content for most professions. If the skill rank system acctually allowed the profession to “rank up” and craft higher ilvl’s etc. instead of a simple cut in material costs, professions might had been a more fun buisness. Sure legion had it’s obliterum system, but it still didn’t really affect the acctuall crafter much, it was a player side grind in the long run.
I’d love to see crafting work a bit in line with; More effort -> Pattern rank up’s -> increased Ilvl. Then when a new season/tier comes along, the opertunity to learn higher ranks for higher ilvl gear opens up for gear crafters. This whould allow crafters to be a proper alternative to gear up. Sure crafting whould have a higher overall material cost per craft, but the products themselves whould at least be worth the effort.
How is the jewelcrafting ability “amazing”?
Sockets are random, I for example have one single item with a socket on it. Additionally gems cost nothing, so what purpose does this unsocket ability truly have? Same as for the shrines, like said, gems are worthless.
I would trade all that away for the ability to socket even 1 item. Or maybe alternatively to be able to craft a high ilvl ring or something.
Worthless addition.
Edit: For some reason these new forums are even harder to switch the character you post with so an alt is all you get I guess…
Wauw, it’s like everything I didn’t think professions would need
