New Rating Requirements for TBC Arena

Why alienate thousands of people from playing Arena? Why would you promote a toxic / elitist environment through these new rating systems? TBC arena used to be available for everyone, including the casual player. Why would you want to remove that opportunity for those who want to enjoy that aspect of the game?

It’s amazing how when Blizzard are given a second chance to correct their past mistakes through Classic, they repeat them. What is the point of Classic if you’re slowly turning it into retail? Level boosts, cash shops, mounts and toys available for purchase, rating changes that is more towards retail? You know why private servers were popular? Because no changes were made. The distinction is quiet obvious, Blizzard wants to make a profit and as a result they ruin our favorite game. Stop making changes NO ONE asked for and stop pushing your limits.

having rate requirements for EQUIPPING gear makes zero sense

I’m an elitist (but hopefully not toxic) and I agree.
The changes are bad: for top players and casuals alike. Who even requested these?
Also it makes heavy PVE gear even more important/prevelent - which was already doomed to plague early arena, but with this change… people who would only play for the “fun of pvp” would be gated out of the game.

I can agree with the 58 boosts, even with its negative impact, since I personally know dozens of people who have a life next to this game and just wanna enjoy a couple arena games and BG-s each week (and these are the people that contribute to a healthy population and roster). But with this change.? Why should they even bother really.

This was just bad wording. They corrected it later on.

Yeah, that’s what people need to understand. It isn’t about “getting good” and “denying welfare epics” to the filthy plebs. It’s about the integrity and health of the system as a whole. When you disincentivize PvP through steep rating gates, you inevitably end up alienating a vast number of players, which deflates the ladder and causes a whole host of issues that ultimately hurt almost all participants (with the exception of those at the very, very top – the absolute best of the best, which comprise an inconsequentially small segment of the playerbase).

And at that point, when the system as a whole is staring at the abyss and the overwhelming majority of players – even good players – can’t push 1800+ rating, the notion of “prestige” seems rather farcical and hollow.

But arena gear is not only pvp gear you can get. There will be also S0 and honor blue gear for begining if I remember correctly. You will be able to have resiliance in all of slots.

PvPers are in a lot better position all we need to do is to get enough honor/apnto buy gear where in PvE your best items are in raid where you can go once per week and you never know if you will get it or if its gonna drop at all.

Its okay that arena gear is locked by rating, it means that you realy need to push yourself to get good items. It wasnt necessary but its not that bad tbh. There are more disturbing thinga about tbc than this.
