New Realm Connections are Underway

The information is from the maintenance pages…

I knew Teldrassil/perenolde was on there because people were reporting having troubles with character services on that server which is a clear sign that you might be able to catch on a few days before but the maintenance pages confirm it

Meanwhile Stormrage/Azuremyst remain a deadrock. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for sharing the info btw. I’m surprised my home of DMF/ER is getting merged with the Defias Brotherhood cluster and not the Sha’tar group, but maybe they’ll join later? Hmmm.

most likely, DMF has a much lower population though so it makes sense that that one would be connected first, but I would definitely expect to end up with 2 RP servers in the end.

Earthen Ring and Darkmoon Faire getting connected with the rp pvp realms makes no sense

From where you take these things ?

RPPVP realms aren’t a thing anymore, there is war mode to replace it. Only RP and normal realms, many former PVP realms have been connected to longstanding PVE realms already.

From the server maintenance support pages, you can also get some hints throughout the weekend as the system seems to block the ability to purchase character services on affected realms a couple days before they even post there.

One thing I will mention is there is no maintenance page for Italian servers this week which is a bit suspicious since normally that would be posted at the same time as other servers.

It is up there right now and not posted in general ?

It’s posted here:

Change the “en” in the URL to de/fr/es/it/ru for other languages

O_O thank you very much.

Moonglade/Steamwheedle Cartel/The Sha’tar here.

Reading this new list of mergers makes me terrified. I’ve been campaigning for a merger with Darkmoon Faire/Earthen Ring since the last round of mergers, where it was considered but declined. Now they are joining the Defias cluster instead!

I really hope the most positive @Trelw predictions come true, and they just make a big RP cluster with all the non-AD RP realms put together. A true sister realm to that place. Cause if not, you can pretty much throw my realm into the garbage.

Please Blizzard. Please grant us a connection as well. I’ll take anyone at this point. As a guild leader, this is stressing me out. D:

Not possible, in the past I’d have said can do, but now that I know how datacenters are split (and crz follow the same pattern), I know that alonsus is group A and ravencrest is on group B, realms of different datacenters (or crz if you like) won’t be merged unless they literally move the server to a different location.

The only top realm that can be realistically be merged to alonsus is draenor (since I don’t think anyone wants drak’thul, a czech realm!).

Absolutely no doubt, there’s no reason to leave moonglade alone, IMO the reason they are connecting to defias first is that they evaluated the possibility to make a DMF + moonglade connection and leave it at that and decided it was too small.

As to the other connections that janek reported here, bloodfeather + darkspear is interesting, especially for me, it’s gonna rebalance the population of the 2 realms since I play on darkspear horde, which is ally dominated and bloodfeather is horde, it’s also very likely this one needs further connections.

Dragonblight + karazhan, since karazhan is more balanced and bigger it’s gonna help balance again, population should go high with this.

Perenolde + garrosh also could go high and both ally heavy, and both the spanish and russian connection are re-tries, I think the spanish connection is bad unless they merge more realms into it cause c’thun has like no ally and dun modr no horde and the russian is ally heavy.

@Anroka: Trelw has his good friend Reorgh brew a strong dose of gently warmed Subtle tea for Anroka and waits until she has finished drinking all of it.

I hope you are now sufficiently calmed down. In light of recent happenings this is most likely a tactical double move by Blizzard. As you are surely aware from watching this and a few other threads, the connections have sadly not been completely problem free. :frowning: Using this order (and Defias Brotherhood as base unit), Blizzard might be able to avoid / reduce certain problems. Also, as the 2-way is in weaker condition it gets improved and Blizzard has a bit more time to refine the process for the 3-way. In addition, the 3-way is now officially reading as a “Low”, too, so it will definitively get connected.

I can understand why you are stressed, but try to stay together a few more weeks, because there probably will be a week or two of “pause” for RP connections. I am saying this, because there are a few apparently smaller non-RP realms that probably should go “first”. Naturally, if Blizzard executes a large number of successful connections per week, you chances of speedy connection go up.

In Esploratore and Trelw we trust!

No other option but wait, hope, and pray we don’t get merged with AD instead.

I wonder why they’ve decided to do this weeks set of connections on Wednesday rather than Thursday? Unless it’s a typo?

Must be getting fairly close to Lightbringer/Mazrigos getting connected somewhere, by now

Oh, I do hope not … though we do have very few horde guilds now. One of the top ones moved to draenor a couple of years ago.

if you want the data centre split its as follows (only naming main realm of each cluster):

  • ENRP (FR): Argent Dawn, Darkmoon Faire, Moonglade, Scarshield Legion
  • EN1 (FR): Bronzebeard, Emiriss, Burning Legion, Kul Tiras, Shadowsong, Azjol-Nerub, Azuremyst, Blade’s Edge, Frostwhisper, Darkspear, Kor’gall, Bloodhoof, Bronze Dragonflight, Drak’thul, Dentarg, Doomhammer, Draenor, Stormreaver, Emerald Dream, Lightbringer, Magtheridon
  • EN2 (NL): Grim Batol, Aggramar, Shattered Halls, Hellfire, Auchindoun, Chamber of Aspects, Karazhan, Ghostlands, Kazzak, Outland, Ragnaros, Ravencrest, Silvermoon, Stormscale, Wildhammer, Twisting Nether (+ Nemesis + Pozzo Dell’Eternità which are in the same CRZ Grouping)

Could you explain what this means? What is the data centre split? Where did yo get this information? Does it mean they do want to make one RP mega-cluster including AD?

It doesn’t mean anything in regards to creating mega clusters, and it shouldn’t be seen that they want to connect each realm in the same data-centre together.

But it is how the realms are split, just like the US region has 3 data centres (theirs are in Chicago, Los Angeles, & Sydney), the EU region runs with 3 data centres as well, though in practice one of those 3 seems to be used exclusively for Russian servers. EU datacentres are in Paris/Amsterdam/Frankfurt, historically blizzard had one in Stockholm as well but that seems to no longer be the case.

But when they do make connections they cant connect realms that are physically located in different data-centres without physically relocating the server so they will pick realms within the same data-centre group to connect with. Furthermore you will only naturally experience CRZ with realms that are located in the same data-centre as you (but it is ofc still possible to join a group with someone from a different data-centre and hop over that way).
