New region server

Hi,

Does anyone know if how to request Blizzard to add a new region? Essentially if you play the game in Africa then you have to connect to EU servers in order to play and the ping to these servers can be quite high >150ms. So was wondering if there was a way to request Blizzard to at least look into adding servers to the region?

Probably not enough people playing from regions where the ping is >150 ms to warrant the cost of servers there.

Aren’t there servers in Spain, Italy or Greece? They seem pretty close to North Africa.

There are players in South Africa.

However, they will never create a specific server due to lack of numbers.

Yeah I am based in South Africa. Not sure if there is any option outside of a server somewhere in Africa.

Have you tried the other Regions as well? I think the way the world internet cables are connected, you might get better connection from South Afrika to Brasil than to Europe , as you have a straight line to South America from South Afrika . Also India might work as well ( not sure if blizzard has servers there)

Would that mean trying to connect to US server to get Brasil? I will look into this.

Well, based on previous server requests all i can say is blizzard are not keen on investing to a new server location.

Since years there have been requests from players based in Turkey, Middle east, South east Asia (Indian subcontinent) for a separate server as geographically the Europe and Oceanic server are too far away and every day they play at an average latency of 150-250 MS. There have been hundreds of these threads on forums and requests and none have been acknowledged.

So if in case blizzard were to plan to create a new server location blizzard’s priority would be in the following order

  1. China - to win back lost subscribers
  2. Dubai or India - to cater to the previous massive requests from players of the middle east and indian subcontinent region (which has a massive player base)
  3. Any other location

So I would suggest you to find a server that is relatively closer to your place, or maybe use a VPN as blizzard will have to go a long way to even consider this request forward.

Games usually choose Turkey to solve these issues. Middle east, eastern europe and africa but that’s not the case for blizzard. i don’t think it’ll happen for africa either buddy

Does a VPN really improve ping though? Any recommendations of VPN to use?

Vpn is not supported but also not forbidden. Use a decent one not the cheap free ones.

A quick search online would give you vpns used by wow players. If you decide to use a vpn then i would say use the blizzard authenticator as it negates the risk of being banned.

And just to make it easy, any bans through vpns are easily overturned as well. So nothing to worry unless you arent doing illegal against tos
