New ret aura :D

  • Retribution Aura has been redesigned - now grants 5% increased damage and healing for 10 seconds to all party or raid members whenever a party or raid member within 40 yards takes more than 50% of their health in damage. This can only occur once every 30 seconds.

You forgot the best part. Old Ret aura has been made into a passive. So we get wings for 12 seconds whenever someone dies now, AND we get to have a ret aura that isn’t toxic

Man, i was so hoping they wouldnt do this anymore. It just doesnt feel right we should be hoping for other players misfortune to be able to compete in DPS . The better a run goes, the less damage we will do. Its not a good design choice or fun mechanic. I dont see how some people are cheering for this abomination. Other redesign choices do look good though so its not all glum but i HATE current ret aura and i still HATE this redesigned aura. People asked for a normal passive buff, why do they keep this profit from others misery mechanic? Noone likes it.

Pretty much agree with this, its just outright bad. When we got it in Legion they prommised they wouldnt balance Ret dmg around having this passive and im fairly sure they lied about that. Main reason i belive this is because they actually turned it into an Aura so now it became an active choise so they “must” balance around us having it (as if they didnt to begin with).

This is not a redesign, its back to its original form but will always remain a bad design!

Not even sure how i feel about the new aura tbh, atleast its an actual aura but unlike other auras its not always on… merge it with Crusader aura?

I don’t understand why Ret aura can’t be done like Devo aura. Example:
Devotion Aura
Party and raid members within 40 yards are bolstered by their devotion, reducing damage taken by 3%.
Retribution Aura
Increases the Mastery of all raid and party members within 40 yards by 3% or 5%.

I think this would be the best solution so that the Ret Paladin/ Ret aura would be useful in Party or Raid and even solo (not solo shuffle) would be better than the current Ret aura.

My issue with auras in general its that ours are not even the strongest by far. We have the most of them sure but there is a severe quality issue in all of them. I dont even like Devo aura, feels and is as usefull as current Consecration healing but atleast with more paladins the healing from that one stacks, devo does not.

Several classes have gotten a “execute” skill to use on targets with low health, paladins being one of the original 2 to have them. Warriors were later on deemed to be THE class to have the best one witch is totaly fine but this has never been the case for any paladin staple skill like Auras… Why is that? Why do we have many yet all seem and feel subpar when compared to others?

On a side note didnt Blizz try and remove all other Execute-ish attacks so warriors were the only ones to have it? Hammer of Wrath was removed during legion.

1.66% damage increase on average for the entire party or raid is too little.
i mean it’s better than nothing, but compare that to 3% versa buff on druids, and you realize it’s bad.
it should be a permanent 3% damage buff buffed to 10% for 10 seconds every 30 seconds when a friendly drops under 50%.
this way, you get 3 + 7/3 = 5.33% damage buff on it, which is comparable to 3% versa.
or with 5% increased magic/physical damage taken from monks/dh

Leap through the air toward a target location, slamming down with destructive force to deal physical damage to all enemies within 8 yards.

If this or something close to this comes live, then im happy. This is all it takes to make me happy, this one single thing that ive asked for over the years.

Apparently this was posted on the US forums as well and was confirmed to be found in PTR files. So there is hope

Tbh if they intend to make it something like this they should have the requirement for it go down for each second, like start at 50% health after the cooldown on it is over and than go down 5% every 3 secs. So 15 secs in your sitting at 25% as the proc point.

This would make it go off abit more consistent in areas outside of raids. Also this should by no means affect Rets potential of doing top damage that would be stupid. We got Havoc with their debuff that adds alot of damage, we got Mage with AI that adds alot of damage we got Warriors with BS that also adds alot of damage. All which has been allowed topping a meta. So Paladins shouldnt be any different.

As far as the thingy itself goes it should work like any other buff in game that you don’t benefit from more than one at a time. So bringing three ret auras doesnt give you anymore than one.

Still technically a meme but its a lot better than “don’t worry, guys, just die so I can gey stronger”.

Though is it 50% in one go or just when they drop below 50% HP? Rets will love raidwide damage but loath group mitigations.

RET will rise again! No longer we will be bound to our wheelchairs!
