Opinions?
It seems rather innocuous and detached from the overarching story, but it does point at some Kael influence and how his character still impacts the Blood Elves.
This is also the first released piece Madeleine Roux has written for the canon lore in the game.
I meant in a more expansion-centred way. Traveler seems more like some side story.
Maybe should correct myself and instead of canon, tag this piece as the first one that seems to go more with the principal arch and characters in the game.
Well, romantic relationships are kind of unavoidable as soon as you try to make the characters the focal point of the long-running story. I don’t really fault them for that. What I don’t know is why they have to make stories that focus exclusively on that with really not much of anything else.
Well… to quote a friend of mine: “I think it’s funny how warcraft writing has switched hands from 40yo nerds to 40 yo catladies who write cringy love fanfiction”
As I said elsewhere, I liked the cultural representation that there are poetry contests, that fit well, also Lor’Themars character and also Thalyssra got a little deep, nothing bad.
If you overlook the cringe factor I think its a 6/10
Baine is like… ok I mean I understand the idea they want to make horde honourable and such… but… at least send a letter and not the entire character.
I hate that they’re throwing Liadrin under the bus when she and Bob had so much history together. Yuck.
On the other hand I suppose I cant be bothered too much seeing as how this guy only shows up twice every decade so this newfound romance thankfully won’t be featured in the game any time soon.
I am personally not too big on most romance stories.
Especially these standard ones. I had a feeling at the back of my head where I already watched the very same awkward love scenes unfold on television, with the messanger clumsily stumbling in the room and catching the two in the act.
It wasn’t anything new, on that part, but I can see why some people found it adorable.
Fortunately, we also had some interesting information sprinkled in. I’m very glad Blizzard is reminding us of the severity of Kael’thas’ crimes, especially since we’re redeeming him in Shadowlands, those shouldn’t be forgotten.
Also, for the Horde…
The Horde’s armies are depleted, our treasuries emptied, our resources stretched thin. A blow to us now would…Well, I am sure you can easily imagine the outcome.
If so, it is so generic that it kind of means nothing… The factions will get hit again, and in that moment it will be sold as a big deal? Yeah, I never would have expected that!
