New Short Story: Terror by Torchlight

Hello, members of the Argent Dawn community!

Just in case you did not know, there is a new short story up by Christie Golden called Terror by Torchlight. It follows Flynn and Shaw into Duskwood, where it seems the dead are starting to get VERY active. A good way to build up to the pre-patch event, and some Duskwood lore. Lets see what you all think:

It was a pretty sweet and fun story.

Yeah. It also shows that there is activity in Duskwood, and people should be investigating. Also glad to see the Night Watch is reformed.

So does this mean Darkshire survived the Veiled Hand’s shenanigans then?

I think it always did, it was just crippled for a time. But it seems to have recovered.

The only odd part I suppose is that the Night Watch was formed from the people of Duskwood because the corrupt nobility of Stormwind pulled the local troops from the territory all those years ago, but seeing as Shaw promises more Stormwind Guards to be sent to the area it seems the kingdom has the manpower to spare so would the Night’s Watch really be needed anymore? Or rather, would it not be like Sentinel Hill, where the people’s militia could now be properly equipped and integrated into the Stormwind army? Would Stormwind really trust Darkshire to sort their own affairs after their previous council and militia sided with the Burning Legion, killed half the populace and tried to set off a bomb in Stormwind City?

I’m overthinking this too much, spooky halloween story with a sweet ending, 6/10 there was only one kiss.

I was thinking about that too. I think the Night Watch are now better equipped with kingdom funds nowadays.

kind of wish Flynn would use the word “mate” far more sparingly.

Have to agree there. Seemed far overused, but otherwise a good read.

It’s sort of like the ‘‘British’’ accents Gilneans have.

It’s what an AMERICAN thinks a BRITISH person sounds/speaks like.

I don’t even need to google Christie Golden to know she’s not Australian/British.

Just felt like they were trying to turn him into Jack Sparrow with the amount of times he said it.

I’m usually iffy on WoW-related stories (novels, short stories etc.) but I quite liked that one. It was nice and down to earth.

This still MASSIVELY peeves me about Tracer. I thought for a long time the VA wasn’t British… but she is! So it’s a Brit aligning with the american misconception of what cockney sounds like?
Angry noises

Being a british sounding person who panders to american ideas of what british people are like can be a pretty lucrative gig.

This is most fortunate! Now we know for certain that Duskwood is still heavily infested with the undead, despite Morbent Fel being gone. Most pleasant news indeed.

Duskwood remaining dangerous and deadly from all manner of monstrosities is one of its greatest charms, especially for the roleplayers who call it home.

In all honesty all Overwatch characters are caricatures

Caricature is fine, just get the accent right! :pensive:

yeah moira’s accent is fine, and irish accents in games are never good (stares in fallout 4)

Are you sure about that?

Worst offender has to be that dark iron paladin in battle for dazar’alor, jfc

Enjoyed the story and appreciate the insight about Duskwood/Darkshire given with the story, I see we all agree that the given clarity is very much welcome!
