New SL Changes Enhance

New Enh changes coming to SL Alpha:

Enhancement Shaman Core Ability Changes:

Rockbiter has been removed from the spec.
** This is a big change we’re trying out. Rockbiter in Shadowlands basically only serves as a GCD filler. With the removal of Maelstrom, and Flame Shock and Frost Shock becoming class-wide abilities that are also on a short cooldown to fill empty spots, there was a lot of competition in the ~6 sec cooldown space of available buttons. Without Maelstrom, Rockbiter didn’t have any strong interaction with the rest of the Enhancement toolkit, and shock spells are much more iconic to Shaman. This is an experimental change, please try things out in combination with the changes below and let us know how things feel.
Lava Lash is now learned at level 11, down from level 22. Base cooldown increased to 18 sec (was 12 sec)
Lava Lash now gets upgraded at level 22 to have its cooldown reduced to 12 sec (was 18 sec)
Stormstrike’s cooldown has been reduced to 7.5 sec (was 9 sec)
Maximum Maelstrom Weapon stacks have been increased from 5 to 10.
Each stack of Maelstrom Weapon now grants increased damage and/or healing to the abilities Maelstrom Weapon effects in addition to the cast time reduction.
Abilities that are altered by Maelstrom Weapon have had their baseline damage or healing values reduced.
Stormbringer no longer causes your next Stormstrike to not incur a cooldown.
Feral Spirits now grants one stack of Maelstrom Weapon immediately when pressed, and an additional 5 stacks over the duration of Feral Spirits.
Each target that you hit with Chain Lightning now both increases the damage of, and reduces the cooldown of your next Crash Lightning.
Windfury Totem radius increased from 12 to 30 yards.
Windfury Weapon and Flametongue Weapon no longer require you to click the button, then click a weapon on your character sheet. They automatically apply their effects to an appropriate equipped weapon.
Lightning Shield now has a 50% chance to grant you a stack of Maelstrom Weapon when it deals damage to an enemy.
Flame Shock and Frost Shock have their cooldowns shortened with your current Haste.

Enhancement Shaman Talent Changes:

Boulderfist (talent) has been redesigned and renamed to Lashing Flames (Passive). Lava Lash now increases the damage of your Flame Shock on the target by 100% for 12 sec.
Landslide (talent) has been redesigned and renamed to Stormfury (Passive). Each time Windfury Weapon activates, the cooldown of Stormstrike is reduced by 1 sec.
Hailstorm (talent) renamed to Cycle of the Elements.
Searing Assault (talent) redesigned and renamed to Hailstorm (Passive). Each Stack of Maelstrom Weapon consumed increases the damage of your next Frost Shock by 50%, and causes your next Frost Shock to hit 1 additional target per stack of Maelstrom Weapon consumed. Maximum 5 stacks.
Overcharge (talent) redesigned and renamed to Fire Nova. 15 sec cooldown. Cause all of your Flame Shocks to erupt in flames, dealing Fire Damage to up to 6 targets near your Flame Shock Targets.

at this point we getting some really interesting things and some things go completely wrong again.
The last iteration was terrible, no question, but I don’t know if the new one is better.

Just want to take the second post to also put in my opinions about every change.

I really like this change. Was never a fan of rockbiter.

Make it 10s and anyways it will be only good if it has dmg or some interaction with our kit. Make it hit like a truck pls.

CD Red makes sense if we have less procs.
Maelstrom stack increase is very bad for the spec I feel. Since we have to choose to heal / dmg with the stacks, it now takes away more survivability

Why even talk about reducing base numbers while the base numbers are already horrible to begin with?
At this point Healing surge with 10 stacks need to be a lay on hands to be not completely wasted.
I would propose 10% base heal per cast, 35% with 10 Stacks…
10 Stacks makes it just terrible awkward if the generation stays the same.

Good change, you could finally give stormstrike some dmg back.

Feral spirits will still be terrible.
Give the back the utility god damn it. Why is it so bad to get a stun, a freedom (3s) and a passive heal??? The passive heal would award pre wolfing some goes. Also for the love of god give it back some dmg…

Good but if earth shield stays and is exclusive with the other shields, it is terrible.

Please make flame shock not a big part of our dmg. We will then have too much ramp and also being a dot class was not why I chose this class. Also will have target switching, aoe limitations and dispel problems

good change on paper, although weird. Need to see how it interacts.

Add the root to this talent pls (frozen power)…

will be a major balancing issue. Should be baseline otherwise you will never be able to tune it against other aoes. Also fire nova has what target limits?

I still want to add, why enh still does not get shamanistic rage? Astral shift is garbage. Even the name is garbage.
If you want keep the name fine, but then change it to 30% dmg red, 15s dur, usable while stunned 1min cd

Goodbye Searing Totem. You won’t be missed. Clunky ability that doesn’t suit the modern game at all.

i would be fine keeping searing as a useless ability. It would be fluff and nice for pvp, just should do much dmg so it is needed in pve.

I with we would actually returning to enhancing ourselves.

I miss bloodflurry and unleash elements so much. Obviously also missing old windfury incl. the animation.

They don’t need to reinvent the wheel just turn back the time to woltk. It was a very good design even for modern wow.

Anyways my biggest gripes are still no shaman rage and no feral spirits with freedom / stun / heal

removing maelstrom was the best thing and going back to cd base gameplay without big modifiers to stormstrike is awesome because it now allows stormstrike to actually do dmg. Wish it was nature and scales with mastery though

also the talent 90 and 100 row is still complete garbage…

Roll the wolves is too much rng
Ascendence is underwhelming for 3min cd and should be baseline
earthen spike need much bigger initial dmg to be useful. Even better it should have a 0.5s knockup.

FoA is gone, thanks god. Now Stormkeeper is very clunky and doesn’t fit enhance. Sundering is good and the crash lightning thing is like a placeholder for 2 years already…

They have confirmed this won’t happen as it has unintended effects which they cannot fix they stats if they CAN fix the issues (being literal random one shots) then they will return it.

As a hunter I miss having a melee and a ranged weapon for this melee moments just felt good to whip my polearn or duel blades out to wing clip in melee range or mongoose.

Actually, id like to amend this statement, after watching the preach video, this spec is looking amazing, and this is exactly what blizzard should do to make a spec enjoyable, lots of abilities working together, and more choice overall, this is great, and the stormbringer still resets the stormstrike, but it does it just once which i’m cool with.

Since skills are not using anymore the weapon (only %ap) it’s impossible to “one shot”,so this is a fake problem…

Imagine having to explain how work their game…
At vanilla,AA dealt way more damage per hit then live,WF (the main cause of the OS) was extra AA.
Even after the change when wf was good (Cata/MOP),it was % of the weapon + ap boost on it,and SS with ascendance was like,400%+ weapon damage?
Now take the damage on live:
Auto attack deal like 20k crit with a 2h.With the formula of vanilla it would be 40k wf=>no way you os with that.
Using now the actual BFA/SL formula:
Having a wf with 1h,2h,or dagger would be the same and will hit like wet noodle.(that’s why we are not allowed to use dagger,because there will be no downside anymore for shaman to use it since we want attack speed.
Same thing for SS.
Now we take some modification of SL:SL reset proc only on special attack (the difference between a 1h and a 2h will be negligable since only SS hit with both weapon).
The problem will be the maelstrom generation (but this is not the topic of this explanation)
So how could a enh shaman could one shot on this case?this is something i want to know with good explanation.

i propose to rename windfury to windfart then it also matches the stupid animation

I also don’t know why earth shock is not back considering rock biter got pruned.

Now if you count did we actually got abilities back or did we lose the same amount? xD

Problem is

We know that like 2handed Frost DK and windwalker monk. Even if they do give it to us it will be a major DPS loss to use it.

It’s gonna suck, and we will hear the threads every day asking blizzard to buff it.

Then take their code and develop a fix and send it in and see what happens if you’re so good

Though I really like some of the changes, there are some minor/major things i don’t like / miss.

Weapon enhancements:
I do not like the returning Windfury weapon and Flametongue weapon since you can only use Windfury on main-hand and Flametongue on off-hand. Now it’s just 2 buttons you have to remember and there’s no flexibility. I’m not a fan of these kind of limitations. Please allow us to use either WF or FT on both weapons and build the char around it. It would support the variety of how shaman class can be played.

Frost Shock:
I have seen the new animation of Frost Shock. Please change it back. Reusing Purge’s animation with this white glow looks like slapping someone with a snowball in hand. Original Frost Shock animation was more agressive and looked better.

Flame Shock:
As OP stated Flame Shock seems like the center of our rotation and our damage relies on it heavily. In my opinion this design of Flame Shock does not fit into shaman gameplay that much.

Missing Earth Shock:
Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I feel it would be better to remove Wind Shear and bring back Earth Shock as an interrupt ability.

Survival concerns:

  • Healing Stream Totem will be smashed in a moment in PVP
  • Astral Shift is still the only defensive and is still weak. It has to be changed.
  • Feral Spirit as OP stated still useless. Give back utility. Passive healing could help some of the shaman’s defensive problems.
  • Earth Shield and/or Spirit Wolf should be reworked (or removed). Spirit Wolf means you don’t deal damage while being trained by a Warrior who can heal while smashing. Earth Shield is weak and is removable (and looks terrible with Lightning Shield).
  • Healing Surge as OP stated previously

ps.: I know it’s heavily subjective but the original Lightning Bolt animation was better then this instant zig-zag. Also the sound effect of Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning was better before the change.

tbh, reguardless of anything this is the descrption reguardless… the Meta will dictate how u apply the buffs reguardless and Doing it any other way simply would be Sabotaging ur own DPS Numbers and Likely just cause u problems such as Removed from groups/raids etc etc

earth shock should replace rock biter as a harder hitting ability with the melee speed reduction.
It should stay decoupled from wind shock.

yes the survivability got actually worse in SL which is surprising that this could actually happen.
A lot of healing power appears to be in healing totem, which makes it trash in pvp.

now it is also very silent about enhancer again. Guess everybody gave up already
