Hi
Im new to blood played a bit in shadowlands s4 and now leveling a blood to 70 and i feel a bit rune starved if i “spam” buttons. I mean i heartstrike until i could potentially deathstrike use my death and decay and the range spell. I could use blood tab too but that would cost me another rune.
Am i playing the spec wrong or is blood always that slow in the first patch of an addon? i played vdh, guardian and with these specs im always busy pressing buttons. In Aoe fights i have to literally spam it but with blood it feels really slow with sometimes lot of downtime in my rotation. I know there is a talent that gets me 1 charge but it costs alot to get it and miss other good stuff.
I would guess this is caused by poor Bone Shield management. What really sets you behind on runes is having to chain Marrowrends to keep Ossuary active. If not for that, you can keep your fingers busy all day with Death and Decay, Blood Boil, Heart Strike and Death Strike.
Remember that Dancing Rune Weapon instantly gives you 5 stacks, that Marrowrend used with DRW up gives you 9, and that Abomination Limb gives you… some amount over its duration. If you keep these gains in mind, it’ll stop you from wasting resources on Bone Shield stacks.
The real pain is throwing a Tombstone outside of DRW/AL/ERW… that Bone Shield setback is not easy to recover from.
im far from perfectly manage my stacks. if i have downtime between pulls it is really hard to gain 5+ stacks again. And i lose more in pulls than i gain if i have to start from zero
I think it wasn’t that bad in sl with the shrouded affix or more forgiving.
I haven’t struggled that much with rune starvation. For the most part I build bone shield either with DrW or Abominations limb. Just a few pointers:
It’s very important to use Tombstone after DrW, so you get a big chunk of the cooldown reduced.
Make sure to Marrowrend at the end of DrW to top off your bone shield
Refresh with Death’s Caress if you can’t get in range in time, and for some reason you can’t grip the mobs either.
Abomination’s Limb is techincally a DPS cooldown, but if you rotate it with DrW then you shouldn’t have many pulls where neither is there to help you generate bone shield charges.
Biggest issue for me, like always, is snap aggro the first few seconds of a pull if the group is too triggerhappy, unless I am popping cooldowns.
