People have been complaining about uncustomizable action bars and UI for years, now we have one, people still complain. Wish we could also customize micro bar, status bar and bag bars, but it’s still something for the people who don’t wanna use addons for UI, even though i don’t like the new texture art style, we’ll get used to it soon. Also raid style party frames are bugged out, they won’t show up in arena. Hope they fix it before the expansion release.
Some didn’t like the art style etc, it’s subjective i have no words for it but it’s insane how some people couldn’t manage to get few bars work together and quit the game for this reason
Maybe if a child hadnt programmed the action bars it would have been easier, but log out & log in & action bar 1 is upside down Log out , log in, go to dungeon & poof where the hell are my locked buttons, no addons obviously.
I’ve not noticed any problems with the new UI. Took me about 10 minutes to get up and running. It’s not perfect, not as customisable as Elvui for example, but it’s very easy to use. I’m pretty happy with it and I’ll probably stick with it because I prefer it’s look over Elvui. The only thing I really miss is aura bars.
It is fine for what it is… Gives new players, or players who get overwhelmed by something like ElvUI a functional UI, that can be decently customised.
If you wanna be optimal, you’ll still have other addons for most things.
But i doubt it was ever the point to replace those. So yea, it’s fine for what it is.
I would love the new UI if it was more customizable. And I mean basic things really like being able to change the size of different things.
Here are a few examples
To start off, I cannot find how to change the mail icon near the minimap (it’s so small I won’t notice it).
I cannot change the size of the talent window. Also why is there such a huge gap between the two talent trees? I need to move my head and chair to take a better look at each talent tree individually and my screen aint even that big.
The empty bar/bag icon is confusing me with the wings icon and I would like to have it replaced with a plain empty black icon.
Also I cannot find where to disable the showing of empty squares from my action bars (if there is no ability or something on it, I don’t want it to be visible).
The crafting UI is ridiculously big and seems like it must be still a work in progress. Like for example why is the profession skill bar on the top just a blank blue bar with no progress indicator or nothing? You have to move your mouse over it so it shows you your skill points… What’s even the point of putting that there if it doesn’t show anything unless you specifically hover over it?
Have you tried to level a profession from an older expansion with this UI? Absolute nightmare. If you close profession window it resets to the shadowlands one and you have to painstakingly each time go the settings of the window and select the expansion you wish to see. Added to that, why is there no “check all/uncheck all” option for the individual items you can craft and instead you have to click every different item individually even though the option is there in the same window for other things. Now I have only tried all of this with tailoring and I haven’t had yet the time to check out other professions, so maybe all these are problems exclusive to tailoring but I don’t really think so.
Anyways these are the things that bothered me most till now and why I don’t approve of the new UI the way it is right now, even though it is a step in the right direction. It’s just not executed with the needed polish.
That said, I don’t agree that blizzard should enable a revert to the old UI like many people are demanding (addons will hopefully soon take care of that for people that want it) but they should definitely work on this one and fix it because right now it feels like they rushed it, didn’t test it or listen to player feedback. Feels like we’ve seen that before…
100% agree, profession and talent windows look horrible, but those are temporary imo (they tend to mess up with talent windows every other patch). Wish talent windows were like that classic ones with two pages each for base class and spec. I don’t understand why they made such huge cluster. Also there are lots of bugs going on like raid style party frames won’t show up inside arena.
Customizability is definitely a huge improvement, but the current UI has major design issues, such as:
The lack of scaling options on some individual elements creates a huge mess for people with smaller or untraditional screen sizes.
Styles (for example font sizes, menu icons - size, colors, art, talent tree elements) do not follow basic readability design guidelines. This is a huge issue for people with eyesight related problems.
This isn’t, by any means, a modern professional UI, at least not yet. You can’t blame the old codebase either as addOn developers are able to deliver better solutions.
Objectivity aside, I was getting migraines from it even though I was never susceptible to them, if that’s not a reason to complain as a customer, I don’t know what is. Made me switch to ElvUI for the first time ever and it’s deffinitely a more professional solution.
I wouldn’t be this charitable. Replacing an old, but working car with a fancy, new one that’s missing half of its parts and therefore not working is hardly a step in the right direction.
It lasted all of 30 minutes with me before I replaced it with bartender, elvui, bagnon, sexymap and a few more. It’s an abomination with about as much versatility as a brick and about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike
I also wonder how people felt the old one worked.
For me it never was pleasant.
Buffa and debuffs in 2 different places, bars stuck in spots i reallty (personaly) did not want them and it offered practically zero freedom.
The new ui offers those things.
I personally dont mind the map size: we went from a microscopic stamp to a proper one and the microbar finally doesnt take up a barslot.
The bags can be stacked, and trash is separated to the top as opposed to being dumpstered between everything.
You kind of had to use addons if you favored having those features and for once, i can park elvui.
Artstyle and colors are subjective, I don’t like but some do, they can’t make everyone satisfied, it’s simply not possible. I don’t complain but pointing out some bugs that can be patched
They really haven’t. They complain about many many thing for sure but the old UI was not amogst those things.
Anyone not happy with the old UI just went and got Elv, Bartender, BagOn et al. They were fine. There was not broke here to be fixed.
Untrue and anyone not happy with the new ui still gets the addons, anyone who don’t wanna use these addons now has a choice instead of uncostumizable stock ui. Why would anyone using UI addons complain about the ui changes. bartender bagnon etc are all up to date
Where’s my choice to have this?
Thoise who want customisation will use those addons. Those who liked the old one have no choice.
Maybe, best case scenario, we get an addon that gives us back something as close to that as possible. Or just fixes the horribleness of the new one (tiny fonts on transparent backgrounds are just an nightmare to read).
