Spoiler warning obviously. But, why? Just why? I can already see people won’t like it “that much”.
Dragonflight, if anything, until now had a decent gearing system, for whatever content you wanna play, so why just make it more complicated?
I can already see the Flightstones becoming the new anima mandatory stuff, and you gain it from daily reset Fyrakk Assault that is about doing a few same tasks on two different locations each day. Plus those crests I can already see confuse everyone.
I’m a little lost with it myself right now, but I’m expecting once I’ve got it in front of me in the game and I’m actually using it then it should all fall into place for me.
Its quite simple really… all items come in 4 tiers… what tier it is determines what ilvl you can upgrade it to…
Lets call these tiers
LFR/Open world
Normal
HC
Mythic
To get the currencies to upgrade your gear from w/e tier, you have to do the content of said tier.
One of the currencies is shared across all tiers and has no weekly cap.
The other that is tier specific has a weekly cap.
What this means for the players…
“The casual” playerbase will get access to higher ilvl gear from doing “lower end” content.
Boosting will become way more expensive to get the same benefeits. It will no longer be get boosted to 2k and sit and do 5s for the rest of the tier for 415 gear etc.
You will no longer to the same degree have 3k players spamming low keys for specific rewards. Since they cant be upgraded to the same level as the items from higher level content.
You no longer have to hold on to valor the same way as before. Its now more beneficial to get quick ilvl upgrades.
The new system offers serious catch up on alts, because if you already have say 415 gloves on a char on your account, it will be half cost across your account to upgrade gloves to 415 ilvl.
Your casuals get better items out of the new systems.
You mid tier players get better items out of the new system.
You high end players get gear faster out of the new system.
People who relied on boosts, and doing +3’s get the short end of the stick…
Wait, you think farming 2-5 keys was fun? dear me… it really wasn’t … For me this systems seems way better, everyone seems to win, except the people who relied on boosts and just doing their 2-5 keys for 415 gear …
Tbh, I think the casual experience in dragonflight was queueing solo shuffle and doing pvp weeklies for gear, and then switching to warmode to do world quests with insane gear lol. Not sure, if complexity matters, when lots of ppl aren’t bothering anyway
the problem though is that now low krys will be dead again you cannot find anyone to run them.
right now it is great to run +2-5 even on ilvl 300 because you find lots of over geared people to crush it
If you have a reason to run them so will others. And imo the fun in dungeons is greatly diminished when overgeared people are given incentive to run them.
For example I don’t mind rushing through random HC for runes but the freshly dinged DPSers who can’t even keep up may not enjoy them.
You earn them doing just about anything. So you don’t need to do stuff you don’t want to do. There’s also a limit to how many upgrades you can do per week, so you don’t need to endlessly farm flightstones.
Yeah, I agree that this part of the system is their worst conceived. The naming conventions are insulting and where it does and does not drop is indeed a bit of a mess and will probably confuse plenty of people.
The life or death of this system will depend on how many crest and fragments drop from where exactly. If this turns into another “grind primal infusion from M+ until you go blind and raiders get nothing” type of thing, I won’t be a happy camper.
I know icy veins speculates that best crests will drop from select HC bosses, but there’s nothing official on these details because -as I understood- not even Blizzard knows at this point.
Sure, overal that’s the case, but then there’s some exceptions. It’s those that make it messy. Don’t get me wrong; I’m glad those exceptions exist otherwise me as a world content player would be done gearing WAY too quickly. At least now I’ll be able to get some upgrades by doing ‘certain specific activities’.
Sure, suddenly we find groups full of ilvl 300 people just dinged 70 and pushing +5 keys.
won’t happen. People are still very selective and nobody will invite ilvl 300 people.
So no what you are saying will just not happen.
who said I afk? I still do dmg, although the mighty 25k dps in ilvl 300 gear certainly won’t contribute.
Point is i want to push my gear as quickly as possible to do more challenging content that I prefer.
Running low dungeons are just a necessary evil. And no running a +2 dungeon with low ilvl people does not make it more challenging than running a +18 with geared people.
