Hi fellow warlocks.
My first character of this class. I chose demonology because of RP and theme, i also have already an Spriest and destruction/affliction seem very close in terms of playstyle.

But…how to make demonology viable in pvp? I am having fun and no worries through levelling, some great moment in pvp too…but most of the time i couldn t survive more than seconds after being targeted in bg.
Hope it will improve at high level with all abilities available.

I play just pvp and love the most worldpvp, demonology will be useless regarding this content? I want to be clear: i dont care about min/max, meta, top kills etc. I just want to be able to have fun.

I think demo can work fine in random BG. I stun them with the felguard anytime someone becomes a problem.

Random BG is OK and low rating arena, I guess with 9.1 you can get even a spot in a rated bg group.
Try to get gear in rated bgs, then you can survive in arena a bit better. I play the gateway legendary with the pvp Talent, just for survivability. Still thinking what talent I swap for fel Obelisk, my hopes where high that the gateway pvp Talent comes baseline… but now we know this won’t happen…

Warlocks lack mobility. And Demonology lacks sudden burst.

Meaning, you can fight a guy in the open world but when you pop everything he may easily just run away. You have no way of catching him.

Another issue is the damage outside your cooldowns. Demonology doesn’t do any meaningful damage outside his cooldowns. Meaning that if you used Tyrant, next time someone approaches you, you are in trouble. You just have no way of putting up solid damage. If you could cast 6x shadow bolts, 2 hand of guldans and Vilefiend etc. you could but that is simply not happening.

I would strongly suggest Destruction if you are a fan of open world pvp and BGs and no, it’s not really similiar with Spriests.

Can you sum up the differences with spriest?

You can have fun with it, i know some warlocks who 1 trick demo even if it sucks - btw it is really bad in pvp - though u can get away with it at if you understand ur gameplay. I don’t really play demo but is it shadow casts ? So might want to fake cast more, to get a fear off, which will give u more time to set up or live etc

Just yet to get silenced while casting Summon Vilefiend. It is on the fire school

Short answer: Affliction and Destruction are better in every conceivable way

I wouldn’t say that, a demo warlock can do a lot of dmg and cc a target without losing that much dps. Still demo was better in MoP
