I like the idea. Though the closest we have now to this is Tournament realms.
Imagine having a new type of realms in game called “end game” (or any other name). Where you create a max level char, have free access to any max level gear/enchants/consumables you want. No renown farming, no currency farming, no loot RNG, no weekly vault RNG, no leveling, no profession leveling, no Auction house.
Just create a char, customize it as they do now in tournament realms, and play M+/Arena/Rated BGs in a separate ladder/ranking from normal realms.
Normal realms can remain as they are, and cosmetics/mounts/pets/toys/etc can be unlocked only on those realms.
If this is added, I would definitely still play normal realms for story, etc. But I would do end game content on the tournament like realms.
Is that a bad thing? after all LOL is a successful game.
I think most people engage with these activities for the progressional rewards. Take away the rewards from raids and m+ the vast majority of players wont bother.
That’s actually not true… .when you look at the achievements, very few people actually play to the “reward level”…
additionally you can maintain rewards with character unlocks, character appearances and even different versions of the same character. again If Death Knight Arthas was the playable class. having Paladin Arthas and the Lich King as playable character would be huge incentives to unlock them…
given the amount of heroes and villains in warcraft, they wouldn’t be limited on the playable character they could introduce over the time…
I dont know what you concider reward level, but when i say progressional rewards i mean better gear that allows you to progress further. Im pretty sure most people do m+ and raids to gear up their characters.
essentially but you’ll be able play M+. Raiding, Arena or Battlegrounds with these characters… capturing the end game audience that wow currently has, but without the issues of class design and having more playable options…
SO basically League of Heroes of the Storms, just with a warcraft banner on it.
I don´t find teh concept interesting, that said I´m not a fan of MOBAs in general… And that´s exactly why it will likely NOT be
Because people here playn an MMORPG, and this suggestion lacks any semblance og the latter half of that description and replaces it all with “MOBA”, requiring no interaction between players outside of the matches, much less any form of social constructs like guilds.
You can pitch it to Blizzard, But I´m fairly sure that after the Hot mess that HotS was, they won´t touch it with a 10 foot pole… and just trying to compete with LoL for the pure sake of competing with it is… well… lol
