Night Elf Dark Rangers

I wonder since when Velonara can speak for the Alliance. Do you have an actual quote of her saying this?

Christ, I’d have to do the questline again…

Take your time

It was a fair disguise, but I saw at once that you were not who you claimed to be.

Regardless, you risked your life to aid us. I will not forget that.

There are those among the kaldorei raised by Sylvanas’ val’kyr who wish to return to their own. If Tyrande would have them back, they are free to go. The rest will be welcome in the ranks of the dark rangers.

In recognition for your service to us, I offer this gift.

Thank you. That’s what she says to Alliance players and she basically confirms that the kaldorei dark rangers who want to go back to their own depends on whether or not Tyrande allows it. Which hasn’t happened, and doesn’t concern your character

Undead (darkfallen) night elves are a thing in lore but not (yet) in the Alliance. However it could be foreshadowing for future lore or perhaps even a future blending of the factions.

BUT as of yet, there is no dark rangers/darkfallen in the Alliance.

Void elves most likely got it because 1) quel’dorei and 2) if they didn’t we would never, ever, ever, ever hear the end of it from a certain fan base who need want everything blood elves get.

Personally I’m levelling one on the horde, I like the idea of a darker character that lives as an outcast even within the horde and that’s what I believe all dark rangers currently would be, outcasts thanks to Sylvanas and the whole 4th war genocide and such.

Undead Kaldorei skin has been available in game for a while thanks to a toy I forgot the name of. Undead Void Elves though, we all know that they were only added because some players would have demanded it and, since the skin is identical to the Blood Elf one, it didn’t require extra work (and was already available through the toy I mentioned). They don’t exist in lore though

AFAIK no Nightborne were raised in Darkshore.

The Void Elf addition was weird, but I am assuming they meant that a High or Blood Elf Dark Ranger could have chosen to join the Void Elves after Sylvanas abandoned them.

Although it would have been nicer if they had actually shown that.

What I don’t get is why people keep assuming that Alleria and Umbric would take them in

Sorry but its not possible for me and from our talking about issue im sure you understand why. Sylvanas is still warchief of horde no matter about some stupid council they set and sylvanas is alive just cant understand why she is crawling at maw when there is still huge group her loyalist just wait her come in sence and return to us. Then she could just lead us undeads humans and elfs to totally new faction. Not going to happen but can always hope. And im not sorry for teldrassil If nothing else there is plenty new forsaken elfs

I can’t speak for anyone else than myself, but I have assumed it because I could not think of any other headcanon lore options that would explain/justify the Void Elf Dark Ranger customizations that were unexpectedly added.

But maybe you can?

Void Elves are outcasts and any Dark Ranger now feeling like an Outcast from the Horde since their tenure as an elite guard is over and they feel they don’t belong there so they offer their services to Umbric and Alleria, maybe?

OP, I don’t wanna be “that” guy, but it’s fine and totally canon, you just weren’t paying attention to the story.

  1. In BFA undead night elves were raised - like Delaryn Summermoon you mentioned - and joined the dark rangers.
  2. After this questline, it is declared that undead nigh elves can go back to the Alliance: “Many of the Kaldorei raised during the Battle for Darkshore wish to remain here with the dark rangers. But any who choose to depart and rejoin the Alliance are free to do so.”

So YES, there are lore reasons. Delaryn may not return, but many do. Also Dark Ranger Velonara said to the Alliance character after the quest that they saw through our disguise and knew who we were all along. And they won’t forget us risking our lives to restore Undercity. Which is probably a prelude to us getting back Gilneas.

I can’t, there is no lore justification for them :woman_shrugging:

Doesn’t answer my question. Many dark rangers lost their role after Sylvanas left during BFA, that didn’t mean that they were not Forsaken anymore. And if I follow your scenario, there is still no reason for Alleria and Umbric to take any dark ranger in. Wanting to offer services to someone doesn’t mean that they’ll accept them

I can’t quite believe this is happening…

An actual good take from HolyStyle

Worgen Dark Ranger reporting duty, i mean can there really be anything more hilarious than this?

We can put everything else to side but history between forsakens and worgens just make it impossible. If nothing else how would gilneass king look that action nothing but killing every single worgen dark ranger by himself

aren´t they immune to undeath, except to become death knight?

Thats the lore behind them yes, it’s why they willingly cursed themselves while fighting off the forsaken.

Worgen Dark Ranger is just impossible. Now what comes to other alliance races i just cant see how draneis would go for that because their leader who is pure light and nothing against gnomes but really cant see it. Only alliance races i could see as Dark Rangers are Night Elfs, Humans and void elfs but even then they should be at horde side cause Dark Rangers are more horde and sylvanas loyalist than even garrosh personal Krom gars army

Well didn’t mention dwarfs but they have been fighting against forsakens whole wow era, they just not do anything but be there. Nothing but alliance king troops to send to dying

Of course. I never claimed otherwise.

So now you’re claiming that night elves and void elves being given ‘undead elf’ customization is a mistake by the devs?! Wow. Your bias is making you delusional.
It’s fine you don’t like it. But that’s all it is. You not liking it.
I don’t care that you don’t like it. Simple.

I do care. You’re acting like some weird fanatic. Just let people enjoy their customization without trying to make them feel as if they’re doing something wrong. YOU are the one who’s doing something wrong by doing that.

What I don’t get is why people (you) keep assuming that they wouldn’t.

Factually not true.

It’s delusional. Why would you do that to yourself?
