Night elf or Void elf?

Never mind I found the answer I was looking for.

I do not see the thread as you’ve edited it out, but void elf.

I asked which elf is more like Tolkien’s elf in the movie?

A natural skinned void elf

Or a Night elf with pale skin and the new Blondish hair

I’ve not watched LOTR, but my assumption would be that it’s deffo high/void elf. Night Elves got this savage, wilder theme to them lore-wise. A fair-skinned void elf roleplayed as a high elf will work best.

True. And in Lord of the Rings the elves often marry humans sometimes, same as the High elves in wow.

My understanding is that, much like in WoW, it’s actually a great rarity - it is just that those who do tend to be very famous ones.

Exactly 100%

Night Elves are the ancient remains of a brutal peasant revolutionary militia and High Elves are the offcasts of their old oppressive ancestors. Void Elves are just High Elves who managed to degenerate twice in their lives, like a Naga getting turned into a Satyr.

If you want elves that are the most like Tolkien´s elves, I´d suggest taking a look at elves from Quel´Danil. There´s a tidbit of lore about them from an older comic where it´s stated that they refuse to use Arcane magic. Combined with them being rangers, you get the closest to Tolkien elf (well, Sindar and Nandor, but screw those Noldor immigrants anyway, what did they ever do for Middle-Earth?) as you can in Warcraft.

Really the only issue is to come up with reason why your ranger would leave Hinterlands.

I think I was looking for something Playable. Such as Natural skinned void elves. I guess I could always roleplay as a High elf.

High elves are not just at the Hinterlands, they are also located at Dalaran, Stormwind’s mage Quarter, Northernd, a place in Dun Moragh.

High elves will effectively become playable with Shadowlands and I´d say it´s far less immersion breaking to use high elf for what you seem to want than to twist void elf into that formula.

But not Highvale elves, who live in Quel´Danil Lodge in Hinterlands.
High elves are not organized race, you have multiple groups with different goals and leaders.
For example, just because you see high elves fighting for Alliance doesn´t mean high elf who is part of Kirin Tor would attend RP-PvP campaigns. They might be the same race, but they are not citizens of the same country.

Ah I see what you mean. So you think the ones living in the Forrest is the best fit. Yeah that’s makes sense.

Even the ones in the Allerian Stronghold Would be great. Because that place always gives me lord of the rings vibes. You have 4 races living there: Humans, Dwarves, High elves, and Gnomes (hobbits).

You could definitely use elf who was part of expedition to Outland, but keep in mind they have been stuck in the place for twenty years before the Portal reopened and we don´t know anything about what they did afterwards (except their leader who appeared once year later).

Also, keep in mind that any resemblance to Lord of the Rings or Tolkien´s works in general is superficial at best. Warcraft races are completely different from Tolkien´s races and this includes humans too. Even high elves from Quel´Danil, who are the closest thing to traditional elves, are still high elves from Warcraft, influenced by history of their race and especially years they spent trying to fight their magic addiction when Sunwell was destroyed.
And they are also great friends with Wildhammer dwarves, which is completely different from how dwarves and elves saw each other in Tolkien´s works.
