Date: 4th of December
Time: 8 PM server time
Location: Feathermoon Stronghold; Usually the ring by the training grounds
The Feathermoon Lectures are an opportunity for night elves and worgen to share their specialised knowledge with their kin, hosted with the support of the Sentinel Army. The goal is to prepare elders, veterans, the inexperienced and the general population alike for the challenges and dangers the kaldorei people may face in the future.
They are fragmented, low in number and have had their share of tragedies. They no doubt lack warriors to defend their civilians, so these civilians must be prepared in turn. Some may believe that none can sit idle and must help their people survive in these trying times, if only so they are better prepared for the next treacherous attack. Who better than their own centuries and millennia old kin?
To name a few examples of possible topics and lessons that could be held by the volunteers (that is the players signing up!):
- Enemies (e.g. undead, demons) and their subtypes (e.g. fel hunters, lich, ghouls)
- Cultures, preferences of the enemy & how to exploit them (e.g. the Warsong Clan and their combat style)
- Specific types of magic (e.g. fel, void, arcane), schools of magic, spells & how to face them
- Professions (e.g. on herbs, elixirs, metals)
- Kaldorei faith, culture & their allies (e.g. the Night Warrior, Wild God worship, how to act in the presence of a faerie dragon or others)
- General combat
Depending on how things go, this may be a regular thing, but the main goal is to bring some life to Feathermoon Stronghold.
IC Hook
Brothers and sisters,
we have suffered unspeakable atrocities by the forces of evil, call them Horde, demons, Scourge or otherwise. They are too many to count. Nature has suffered alongside us, and our allies have watched on too often. It is clear to me, and no doubt many of you, that the only ones we can truly rely on are we ourselves, our own kin. The elders, veterans, artisans and even youths. They all carry with them experience, talents and knowledge they excel in. This includes the worgen who stood loyally with us, through defeat and victory. Our bond is strong, forged through the energies of the Emerald Dream and Her Light.
However, we are few now. Too few. Children cannot afford to be children any longer, youths no longer youths, sentinels who have not yet fought a single battle must face the most horrid monstrosities our enemy has to offer. I therefore call upon each and every one of us, even the shunned, to do their part in preparing our kin however they can. Share knowledge and skills that perhaps one day could save someone’s life. Be it about magic, our foes, abilities and skills of any kind that your own could profit from, commoner, sentinel and druid alike. Make it known and teach them.
Under the gaze of my sentinels, volunteers will be able to enlist their aid in this endeavour until the 4th day of the coming month. State your name, the subject of your lesson, the time it will take and what you believe qualifies you, addressed to Sentinel Riveroak, who will serve as host of these lectures.
Signed,
Priestess Ycathe Seaspirit
Commander of the Thornglaives
Things to consider before signing up
The goal here is not to hold a lecture where people watch one person monologue, but instead encourage creative IC interaction, demonstrations and discussion. Likewise, copying simple knowledge from WoWpedia pages should be avoided, that isn’t to say your character can’t be right. Instead, incorporate your character’s personal bias, blind spots and ignorance where it fits to add some spice!
On death knights, demon hunters & others
Though other races than night elves and worgen may sign up, the former two will usually take priority, both from an IC and OOC perspective. However, they are free to attend.
Should death knights, demon hunters, ren’dorei and others feel the absolute need to attend (or they are even the one holding the lesson), they will be asked to leave their foul armor and weaponry and cover their corrupted being as well as possible with common garbs.
