This is from a post on the US forums from a thread similar to mine:
“Absolutely. As the content gets smaller and smaller every patch, the slow down policy ramps up.”
And this is absolutely accurate.
But what really bothers me in this zone (Zereth Mortis) is that flight paths existed way before flying was even implemented in the game.
In fact, proper flight paths have been in the game ever since u got out of ur races starter zone. So think it’s completely ridiculous to see the new devs not put flight paths in a zone like zereth mortis on the probable reasoning that everyone will have flying before it becomes an issue.
First, it’s disrespectful to the game and it’s original creators.
Second, it’s grossely inefficient. (See the quote for explanation).
And finally, why the hell would u remove flight paths in favor of something that legit ruins the game experience in the first place like the ability to fly with a mount.
Personally, I never liked using flying mounts. Sure it’s faster and to some extent makes gold farming easier/faster but people don’t play a game in the first place to save time. They play a game to waste time and have fun doing it.
Wasting your time in a computer game doing something you enjoy is fun.
Using a flying mount to reduce time spent on a game you enjoy is not.
I really do think it incredible that you manage to explore the whole zone to exhaustion, get on this forum and write out many paragraphs about your grievance - and even make a good point here or there…
and yet… you didn’t find the huge green exclamation point in the main city and the camp on the other side of the map, at least.
No. The definition of a Shadowlands flight point is that you must spend at least 5mins flying to and from Oribos. The Zereth Mortis system robs players of this experience.
A Zereth Mortis portal/teleport for Mages would be nice I must admit
Or at least puting up the ZM “patch” for the Wormhole generator, instead hiding it in a paragon box with an added rng factor… the time it will drops, it will be obsolete
Be that as it may, it’s got a huge green exclamation point over it as well as a marking as a flight point on your minimap. There is no logical reason to fail to see it.
And the text when hovering over it says ancient translocator.
If I was new to the game, I wouldn’t think that to be a flightpath when all the other flightpaths I encountered prior look like this:
In fact, I didn’t understand it was a flight path first time I saw it because it looked like it was some kind of relic on the map and I just ran past it.
But… and the green exclamation point. And frankly, when I come into a new town, especially if it’s small, I’ll just run around and click everything and see what it does, and I did indeed find the flight point immediately.
Anyway, here’s the real deal though: When you notice something like this there’s something to be said for attitude. If I couldn’t find them and thought there ought to be some, I’d seek to confirm my suspicion first by Googling “Zereth Mortis Flight Paths”, which would then immediately send me here: https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/zereth-mortis-zone-overview-and-guide
This guide reveals the flight paths.
It’s one thing to have missed it - I would describe that as mildly odd but nothing major. However to come in here and complain about it without making even the mildest effort to actually find it… that’s special.
I mean we’ve just had hundreds upon hundreds of QQ posts about people who dug so deeply into the achievements window that they found something for an unfinished and unreleased feature, then got upset when it was changed - and yet we can also have this.
I think it’s kind of stupid to have to go searching on internet for stuff that should be readily available in the game. Blizzard are infamously bad with pointing to stuff that players try to find.
Ok? Why would I untick flight point on the minimap randomly?
Agreed, you shouldn’t have to do that, and it would be fair if he came in here saying that he couldn’t find it and that being a criticism. In defense of that point there really was no reason to change the icon, it’s just something they felt was cool I guess, but I really don’t think it was either.
However I wouldn’t have agreed with that criticism either. Iirc there’s even an NPC that walks around the area at your request and shows you everything. It’s really not difficult at all to work out.
Randomly? You’re looking for flight points - what better way than to use the tracker system?
