Make use of flight paths (only need to make the journey once to pick them up), portals and boats. Then walk the rest of the way until level 40 then use the mount. There’s no rush needed.

If the world is like it was in vanilla, then flying mounts cannot happen. Because the world is smoke and mirrors, and it took a complete redesign of the old world that was Cataclysm before flying was a thing there, despite flying mounts being introduced in Burning Crusade.
Sad. People completely miss the purpose and joy of slow pace type of gaming…
Get a flight path, pop a can of beer, lean back and relax, chat with your mates of ask randoms where are they from.
Some people play not to complete something, but because they enjoy the process all the way and that sense of accomplishment is just a cherry on top

First, by the fact that going from point a to point b will not be taking an hour
Secondly, by the fact that there will not be any time-limited content, except seasonal events like Brewfest and Winter Veil, which means that by definition one will never be late for something
