No more character customization in Shadowlands

… We litteraly just had a whole thread explaining that no, it’s not the case.

I disagree with this, since its been stated since the start that Fel corruption would be “washed off” from the Blood Elves in time(Akin to how the Orcs would eventually regain their original skin colors! + Shen’dralar Night Elves fed from a Demon for thousands of years, and had washed the fel taint off them in 2 years and their eye colors never changed!

I agree this is a pretty big leap with what we knew of lore, but purple, or emerald, eye colors weren’t “unheard” of. I think Valeera’s(or some other Blood Elf) eyes changed to purple while draining magic from a Naga artifact, obviously showing their eyes can and could turn into that color. And there is Alleria(I think?) who had emerald eyes from start/birth?

Big agree on this, although different eye coolers in Undeath isn’t unheard of(We see Blood DK’s with red eyes, Unholy with green, there is ofcourse the lichfire blue and then the eerie yellow from the Forsaken!)

Big agree on this part!

Oh, I misremebered then; or atleast… I assumed since Xavius was of such high-rank he’d have amber eyes like Azshara, Dath’remar, Illidan etc!

Sorry, i don’t have time to read every single thread of the forums so i must’ve missed it.

Do you have an official source and not a forum thread to back up that claim though? In the original lore atleast, that was the case. Blizzard can however pull whatever they want from their behinds and call it canon though.

  • High elves were exiled for refusing to mana tap, that is, taking mana from living creatures.
  • The vast majority of the population, both high and blood side, did not know about the fel until waaaay in TBC Outland plot.
  • As pointed in the thread above, fel is a radiation. Any elf spending time around will have green eyes. In theory, so should the high elves who were in Outland.
  • Blue and purple are both colors for Arcane.
  • The Sunwell is now Light/Arcane, so any Thalassian elf can have a combination of green, gold, blue, purple, or red if they’re dead.
  • The Silver Covenant is not the only Helf group.

I meeeeeean
you say that
are there any others worth talking about?

Somewhat, if only to illustrate that they are not a society but several pockets of exiled with different opinions each?

I mean, he probably did have amber eyes. Just never got confirmed.

I think this is more about the iris of the actual eye, which the glow conceals.

All High Elves in Outlands have green eyes lorewise(the first one you run into as Alliance even states/jokes about it!)

You have Quel’danil Lodge in the Hinterlands :smirk:

A based group made of up only Elven Farstriders and Warriors with literally no Magic users amongst them!

Oh :frowning:

Honestly, not giving purple eyes to Draenei was criminal. I look at Velen.

Same goes for golden eyes for Draenei, ngl. Basking in the glory of literal Naaru’s don’t give you golden eyes, but tapping mana from a Arcane/Light Well does?

I agree!

Honestly that one is weird. I generally put it as either the color of the iris under the glow (but then, how would they know the color?) or a writer who did not check the fine prints on the WoW universe and/or forgot that in WoW, elves’ eyes glow.
Considering we had a writer who forgot entirely the Night elves invading Quel’thalas, it’s as likely.

To be fair. Draenei are not elves.

I mean, pointy ears; amazingly attuned to any magic they touch(Arcane, Fel, Light)… They could’ve been if they didn’t have tails and weird goatfeet.

I always forget they didn’t get wiped out.

Though it doesn’t help that they don’t even have a named (elf) leader NPC…

half-draenei half-elf playable race when

Except death knights. THey stay stuck with blue eyes.

Careful, before you know it they’re called space elves.

They’re sort of space tiefling already.

Considering how they have nearly exclusively portrayed high elves as not having an actual glow to their eye through out the game’s life cycle in all official material depicting high elves, I’m gonna err on the side of the glow that magic brings to the equation overriding their natural eye colour.

Lor’themar for example had brown eyes before they were saturated green.

Last time I had this discussion with Brigante, I demonstrated to him that every single instance of high elves being depicted with an eyeglow comes from non-canon material, or outdated models updated specifically in favour of non-glowing eyes where the whites of their eyes are visible.

I honestly assumed all the High Elves eyes glowed blue.
I never knew Lor’themar had normal, brown, eyes before they started to glow green.

Seems High Elves really were a step back from Night Elves :smirk:

I mean, i see what you’re saying but that thread is mostly headcanon and speculation. Afaik there are no confirmed cases of a high elf going from blue eyes to green and then back to blue.

With the orcs for example, once their skin is green there’s no going back and it even carries over to following generations. And the blood elves are specifically the horde aligned high elves who left the alliance but the OG high elves who didn’t sign up to tap mana and use fel are still an official member race of the alliance.

And not to get too deep in the high elf weeds i just have to mention that it’s pretty insane that a lot of people are okay with void elves but argue that you can’t have high elves because there are so few of them. I can guarantee there are plenty more high elves than void elves. The void elves are like a tiny cult of blood elves who studied the void and took it too far.

Sure, but the draenei are literally aliens from a completely different world and not related to elves at all.
