Blizzard introduced a fix for this a while ago. You need to get a toy Soft Foam Sword. It brings the health down of low level mobs without killing them.

Iāve seen a few threads saying the soft foam sword no longer does any damageā¦ not sure if true or not.
Again, no one said remove, the thread just suggested they should not introduce more of this type. Itās a playerās opinion, just as you are entitled to yours, so is the OP of this thread. It was actually quite a fun threadā¦ then you seemed to get quite serious and edgy about it.
I prefer one escort quest thant 5 quest to kill 40 boars.

I liked Prince Farondis escort quest, I basically just laughed all the way while he nuked everything that came close to us. It was so over the top, itās was really funny 
The drunk guy quest was also ok.
I donāt mind them most of the time, they are just as entertaining as killing 10 of something, and are usually easy and quick.

Just tested on a boar outside Orgrimmar and it did bring the health down to about 10%.
Resident Evil 4 did Escort quests right, as you could tell Ashely to get in the bin as you did all the hero stuff.
Will be doing exiles reach today on either my level 1 hunter or may even roll a mage to check it out. I quite like escort quests, my fave being drunk Flynn where you have to get him to Freehold

Worst is that blooming chicken quest in the Hinterlands in Classic. You had to escort the blooming thing all the way down to the coast, literally right in the middle of a Horde questing hub so you either died or your chicken did.
It has since been made much easier but still.
I used to enjoy that quest because I always did it at level 70. It was like a mini achievement. I get 70 and I pick a Shattrath faction. But I agree, it takes forever.
Escort quests have a certain charm about them. They have evolved some over the various expansions. The older ones that wont move with you are the worst and attack random stuff slowing you down 
Along with the quests where we must either gather or take a 
?? 
I have not yet discovered the poo quest for SL, I am disappointed.

Khadgarās servant and drunk Flynn are the worst ones. Iāve just finished the new starting area on my warlock (she was already level 10 so I restarted her) and I already hate that daft gnome. Seriously, I know where the stable master is but Iāll ask anyway to shut you up. Why do you keep dawdling when I could have run there and back several times in the time it takes you!

Thatās hilarious. Blizzard definitely has a dark sense of humor that borders on plain silly. Like the horde beginner quest giver quest line. Long live Johnny Awesome.

Iāve actually stopped leveling when hitting escort quests. That Finn one makes me wanna slap him so hardā¦
