Cyrces Circlet, DISC belt, Reshi wraps. Its all the same. Random armor slot. Dmg has a change to deal dmg. Heals have a chance to heal. Upgrade over 5 weeks minimum to make ppl sub for 2 months. Its all the same boring item.

Borrowed power is for Blizz like that crazy ex some people keep going back to. At least they toned it down a bit and it’s not as bad as in previous expansions.

A cape with a cantrip is no different than a cape with 3k intellect on it.
The difference is what you have to do to get it and upgrade it. These items were good. They required some level of “doing something different” but not AP farming for months.

I liked it. The wraps took just a few hours of doing the campaign and you got the upgrades from any content if I remember correctly. It wasn’t a massive time investment.
Like Uda said, its an alternative way to get gear other than a lucky RNG drop in PvE or just buying it in PvP.

I have enjoyed them. Limited time borrowed power, which weren’t luck dependent unlike the legos from Legion. They have only lasted one patch cycle so haven’t long term blocked item slots. They add a bit of variation and interest for minimal effort.

Special items are not that different that item sets. They give a bonus that may or may not alter slightly your next action when it procs.
Personally I prefer cantrip items over stat sticks.

I think, based on
his gripe is more with the extra time needed to get them, than the power they bring, since he said the same thing you did about them just being extra dmg or extra healing - as a tier set bonus would, the difference is, compared to an item you can raid for these special ones are gated by some weekly system/rep.
Unfortunately there is no turning back to the time when we could no-life for 1-2 months and then have time off the game till the next patch. The entire game is hamsterwheel after hamsterwheel, except now hamsterwheels are being removed to entice people to play what’s new while it’s new.
Can we stop with the “borrowed power” fearmongering? These items are nothing of the sort. In fact, they are an awesome, alt-friendly addition.
Just hit lvl 80 on remix and transferred to retail? No prob, fam, here’s your max level bis cloak for free to make the alt gearing journey 1/15 less painful!
Not to mention the little fun bits of lore/worldbuilding they provide. I thought we missed the RPG?

I agree, and like I said, at least it’s not as bad as in past expansions, Bfa comes to mind. Lemme rephrase tho, op seems to have an issue with paying the sub longer than he would want, at least that’s what I am getting from his words, not the time itself, but because that time equals more sub time needed.
There are whales who sub for 1 year at a time. These whales would be subbed no matter what.
