But you already have your version of WOW. That version, which shifted from RPG to action game, And I have no problem that you prefer it, but I don’t. That’s why I stopped playing a long time ago. That’s why I came back to classic again, and that’s why I am playing SOD. Because it was made with a vanilla mindset.
I do, which is why I like more vanilla/SOD PVP. Because it is bursty and without resiliance, you can kill a better-geared player and punish him for the mistake. It was impossible in later expansions because, with bad gear, you cannot outdmg even hots. So you only need the best gear to be competitive.
And you are the one who decides what is the main game and what is the minigame. Ok, so that 1h reworked instance, which you can do 1x every 3 days, is the main game. And those completely new PVP huge events, new quests that make you travel around the world to enemies locations to support WPVP are mini games. Whatever, dude, I have to work now.
Noone has their version of WoW. Everyone has their own preferences, and no expansion satisfies them all at once. Most people play classic because it is better than retail, but just because classic is on average better than retail it doesn’t mean that every mechanic in classic is better than its retail counterpart
Yes I actually agree with you that we are playing an RPG and not DotA / CS:GO and that your performance must be determined by your gear first and foremost and only then by skill. But again, it is simply becoming impossible for PvP to coexist with the same rules as the rest of the game. Hunter pets, scorpions, moonkins, shadow priests, tanking runes - this is all just the beginning, it will all get even worse as new runes and mechanics appear in future phases
Yes, it feels bad when you do something you do not want, but have to. Because it is rewarded good. Right?
This is universal, and apply for near everything.
All ppl want the same thing: Everything to be and happen as they want it.
But it not works that way, and for good sake.
In conclusion: you are forced! The one who force you to do what you do it’s yourself.
The creators of the game put something somewhere with certain value. They do not know you, do not know that you will come and will not like what they did…
Yes this is true
From the standpoint of good game design you want the player not only to enjoy the reward, but also to enjoy the process of working towards it, which is obviously not the case with WSG for most people
No one is forcing you to farm your reputation at WSG. Just take the other wrists and that’s it. Stop crying, child.
i mean in my case i have the 2nd bis bracer for tanking, and the 2nd bis dps bracers on my pala. both were pretty free, and didnt require 2k bgs. but then again, the 2k bgs is to get bis for the next couple phases too, so starting the farm is a good idea for anyone
I should probably mention i dont play retail, nor have i for many years. Simply beacause it is awful:)
Yeah, my point isnt really well-made in sod. Since we dont really have resilience gear for pvp. And even at 60, the rank 14 gear is basically on par with t2.
SOD isnt balanced around mid-level content anyway i reckon.
Edit:
I do remember how amazing mop was, when they introduced the trinket set bonus for pvp. First expansion i didnt have to pve at all, to be relevant in pvp. And i LOVED (!) it
imagine you are horde and wait 20mins for a WSG (3 mins if you find one more person to go with)
No one is forcing you to do PvP.
No one is forcing you to get those wrists.
No one will say “hey, you’re almost full BiS but ahhh, you don’t have the BiS wrists so sorry, you can’t join the raid”.
I have only been doing STV event when it comes to PvP. None of my chars have the wrists. I still do Gnome on all of them (the lvl 40 ones anyway).
Your argument is… not an argument.
you arent forced to use those bracers. you can beat gnomer in green leveling gear. Get a grip bro
You Liar! It takes 631 losses with 0 flag caps to go from revered to exalted. If you just do ashenvale untill revered and then go wsg its 631 losses, if you did 2400 youd have the bracers 2x over. 1 loss = 1 wsg token = 33.3 rep per loss. 21k/33,3=631, rounded up.
Now i myself am not loving PVP right now since its very heavy in the Horde’s favor and i dont like that the devs arent doing anything about it. Atleast make yourself look smart by actually calculating how many bg’s it would take win or lose…
Lol imagine making a post about 1 item. Just don’t get them? It’ll make <1% difference to your game

Hey now, we all know this game is ALL about getting COMPLETE bis before the next phase is out. How can he peacefully move on to the next phase, knowing he didnt explore current content to the fullest?
That bracer is what is stopping him from knowing how much deeps he can pump out.
I think we all remember the drama that unfolded when ToGC was launched (in classic), and all the sweatlords never got their trinket from General. Oh the tears<3

Lmao ikr? His whole life is a lie if he can’t get that last BiS piece, I mean, is there even a point for him to play the game at all if he doesn’t get it?!
Oh, btw, I advise you to use the “/s” line, otherwise some brilliant people will fail to understand that your post used sarcasm!
noone will mad if you arent in full bis trust me…
People so bored with servers being offline they reviving necro’ed threads x)
Guys, Blizzard is rly fully hacked, even their EU sites lookin like that… (https://imgur.com/a/97ss517)
The other way around is what you meant, right
SoD is not a PvE version of the game. That is retail. As someone with Cutting Edge (mythic raiding) and R1 m+ (0.1% best player world) I can tell you with a certainty “Vanilla (incl. all iterations) → WotLK are PvP versions with WotLK being the peak of PvP” and you PvE to get your BiS trinkets and/or weapons to play PvP. Not the other way around. Raiding in those expacs, ESPECIALLY classic, is easier than LFR on retail. Unfortunately due to layers we can no longer enjoy the massive world PvP of original releases, which is what made those expacs so good.
I’ve read most of the comments here but not all, because to me is mind blowing.
I would like to only state one thing, though for you this transitional phase3 seems important and you consider 1 item would make a difference to clearing a transitional raid that won’t matter in couple months, just to get better logs that won’t put you in the hall of fame is just absolutely pointless. I cannot understand people that try hard over a simple level 50 raid just to get logs, your entire gameplay is around clearing 1 hour raid content that is always the same every week and doesn’t require for you to do adapt or overcome but rather farm same consumables over and over for gear that will most likely be replaced by dungeon 0.5 sets at lvl 58-60.
As for the PvP vs PvE comments here, I find it funny that people only consider it to be PvP when you do battle grounds or when you fight other faction in open world, because in reality PvP stands for player vs player and not faction vs faction, which means that everytime you log into the game you PvP, either to get more consumables than the other player (regardless of faction) to get more gold, more recipes, more gear, stealing the herb or mine node from other player - you compete with other players at everything, everytime you log-in, again, regardless of the faction everytime you log-in you PvP.
I understand that some people think themselves special for being able to do some speed runs in a raid that many of us find to be pointless, but even that is PvPing since you compete with other players to have better logs than they do. (Hey! Whatever rocks your boat)
I would not argue over 1 mode being more important than the others, I usually play both PvP and PvE, I just find it funny and at times stupid to argue over this game being PvE focused when all you do is PvP in multiple shapes or forms, DAILY!.
LE: Just to clarify, I have nothing against PVE. I just hate the weekly grinding it requires to get all the consumables and gather all the world buffs, just for 30 minutes of “fame”.
