No reason to remove/restrict older content

This might be a long writing and I wanna say “sorry” upfront for any misspelling since english isn’t my native tounge.

I have been playing WoW since late vanilla and have had my share of pauses in between. All the expansions have had good ideas even if they weren’t implemented well. One of the most fond ideas that was implemented have been, in my opinion was the ability to be able to transmog your equipment to make your character stand out, as well as the ability to solo older harder dungeons/raids to complete whatever set you were going for.

In recent times I thought to myself “why did “X” raid got removed?” or “why did they even remove “X” mount from the game?”

To clarify, I’m thinking for old-school Naxx and old-school ZG/ZA just for an example.

For anyone who doesen’t know the history, there were older versions (OG) of Naxxramas, Zul Aman and Zul Gurub, with unique introquests and faction awards.

We now know that some of the older items has returned as cosmetics, which is great, but it’s still lacking all the items that was available. And I’m not talking about available recolours thats available from Thunder Isle (as an example).

I can totally understand that there are items which should be unobtainable (for whatever reason), but why is that mostly restricted for items that was from Vanilla/TBC?

What I mean is, since the start we’ve had awesome raids, dungeons and mounts that people can solo in order to complete their collection for transmog, mounts and achivements purposes. Then why haven’t all the newer raids with items and mounts been removed? They have been unique to their respective raid-tier, so why are newer raids untouched and even scaled to make them easily soloable?

A soloution to this “problem” could be to make older raids with their loottable return, accessible through a NPC, and get teleported to the correct instance if it’s not possible to return them through a separate entrance in the world of Azeroth. And for all “superunique” items, i.e Corrupted Ashbringer, make respective achivement. An example could be for an old-school player to get a Feat of Strength “Collector of the original “X”-item/mount”.

If every old-school item could return and make the original owners get an achivement for those kind of items, wouldn’t that make the game more fun to play?

I myself have items which aren’t available anymore, and don’t see any reason for them not to return to everyone who missed it out.

  • some old players don’t want that. they think they’re so special because they played back then so blizz trying not to hurt them that’s why they don’t bring those things back. we’re getting some old patterns etc. from naxx in 10.1.5 but there are certain items that would cause tantrum floods here so they stay locked
  • i personally hate locked content and i always say that i don’t think it’s good for the game it shows its age even more because there are lots of things
  • seasonal content is why they don’t remove everything from new raids because there’s already time gated stuff you can earn like you can’t get SL ksm mounts right now.
  • with tender rumours i expect everything to be included in some sort of event/pass etc. soon but that’s just my guess.

last note: in an mmo every content should be available for any players at any moment except yearly event rewards but it’s not gonna happen with seasonal content etc.

I totally agree with the part of locked content, and I can also understand to some degree that old-school players might get upset. But there has to be a way to make everyone happy…

Regarding the mounts, titles and achivements locked to seasonal events like KSM, arena and other similar content is understandable, it’s a prestige for a limited time only. However, the same goes to raids as well.

What I mean by my last statement is that a current raidtier is a “race to reward” for CE, Curve, mounts, titles and what not. Then why isn’t all the “race to reward” content treated the same? I’m not saying that everyone should get everything, I’m just talking about dungeons and raids.

I would rather try to figure out a soloution that could make everyone happy. Another example could be to treat “special cosmetic” items i.e Corrupted Ashbringer as a rare drop, similar to what has been done to all CE mounts on mythic difficulty after the current expansion is at an end.
