No Sound in WoW Classic but in Retail and Browser

Heya Community,

I have a Problem :

I’m connected via wireless to my Computer with my Headset but I have the weird issue that I have no Sound in WoW Classic but I got Sound in Retail WoW , every other Game and my Browser (Youtube etc.) .

I checked Sound settings ingame , updadet my Drivers and checked my output devices in Windows. Everything seems to be allright? Anyone can help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance

Try to change the “Game Sound Output” in System > Sound to your specific device, rather than the system default if you haven’t already, that fixed it for me.

Same Issue havent found a fix yet

This is pissing me off.
Same issue. System settings for audio show the proper devices as enabled.
Every program finds it incl Bnet Agent and WoW Retail.

WoW Classic nada.

Gotten so far to copy the output config line from retail into Classic but it only goes as far as to having audio… untill I pick a character to log in with.
Stupidly non-logic.

Hey all!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues here. I’m not certain that this is affecting all of you, but there is a known issue in a recent Windows 10 Update that is affecting audio in a number of games.

As per Microsoft’s workaround:

To mitigate the issue, open settings in the impacted game and disable multi-channel audio, if this option is available. You can also search in the Windows Control Panel for third-party audio device control panels and disable Multi-channel audio or Virtual Surround Sound, if these options are available.
We are working on a resolution and estimate a solution will be available in late September.

World of Warcraft Classic doesn’t have an option to disable Multi-channel audio, but there is the “Sound Channels” option in the System > Sound > Hardware section, and I’d suggest trying to adjust this setting, and see if that helps. Please also consider pressing the “Recommended” button in the bottom left of the System settings window while on the Sound Tab, and select to apply to “These Settings”.

For anyone still having troubles, can you please ensure that your Windows and Drivers are up to date, and please can you Close Background Applications to ensure that no other program(s) are interfering with the game.

If the above suggestions don’t help, can you collect System Files from your Computers, and then upload them to a file host site (like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Pastebin), and share the link with us here.
Note: it’s possible you may not be able to share links directly, and if that is the case please select/highlight the link and click the </> button on your editor to convert the link to Preformatted Text.

You should also try opening a command prompt as administrator and running sfc /scannow. There was also an issue recently that caused broken audio on Bluetooth and USB audio interfaces.

Hello,

I just had the problem with my Razer Electra Headphones. I went to device manager, went to “sound, video and game controllers” and disabled everything except the razer headphones one. Restarted the game and it started working immediately. Hope this helps anyone. Cheers.

Youre a genius! Have just purchased Razer razer blackshark v2 pro wireless headphones to treat myself and came across this same issue! I ended up disabling all other sound outputs in sound control panel apart from this & THX spartial audio (main output) and still didnt work… then noticed in ‘manage sound devices’ that there was also another razer sound output… disabled… and like magic! WoW now works… thanks!!!

ps sorry for rezzing a dead thread …
