I started fire mage in DF because I was drawn to the mobility, utility, and fantasy. I’ve been a hard core warlock and wanted to move.
I was surprised at how there is no flexibility between talent builds. If you look at the builds on Wowhead there is very little that separate raid, ST, M+, and Flamestrike build. Come on Blizz, that isn’t exciting.
Plus, fires damage is really poor. I’m just above tank damage. Mix it up. Maybe flamestrike and lit fuse as our aoe, ignite and phoenix flames are our cleave, and really make fireball, scorch, and pyroblast smack in single target.
I’m new to this, so don’t come for me, but you can see some flexibility in other specs.
Im not convinced the people posting those builds are even playing mage atm.
I went with modifying one of the aoe builds to the point I actually can do decent aoe damage again.
The daft part is that single target build is pretty non existent. If you compare the online guides atm its literally take 2 more talent points to supposedly be a single target dps. Which makes no sense.
p.s. if anyone wants to try the aoe fire build I am having fun with
Main difference is being able to pump out a lot more aoe due to combustion giving back 3 stacks of phoenix flames and fireblast, so you use those up before using combustion.
You are preaching to the choir here. It’s off with lock too with some spec. It doesn’t promote creative because everyone is worried about damage meters due to poor tuning.
Please allow me to do ST damage in a AOE build and vice versa.
