Background: Players who are physically situated outside EU will be unable to buy tokens from in-game shop and sell them on AH for gold.
I think it’s unfair for blizzard to make non-EU players (physically not in EU) pay the same subscription fee in euros and the same price for the expansion, but not allow the purchase and sale of tokens on AH to them.
Why? Players in EU have access to all the gold-based economy with little to no effort while we, who have paid for the same game, have to grind the hell out to make a decent amount of gold. The wow token is not going anywhere, so at least be fair to all the players.
It is true but you should keep in mind the restriction happens only for players whose currency doesn’t match their region and geographic location, so Asian players are allowed to buy tokens on Asian realms, but they are not allowed to do it on European or American realms.
Also, the restriction is not as simple as saying non-EU players are not allowed because that would leave british and russians out, and obviously Blizzard won’t ban british nor russians players from buying tokens, nor any other non-Euro currency that Blizzard accepts as payment.
I think that has something to do with about that people were able to take advantage of the russian prices for stuff to buy things since they have or had (its been years at this point i believe where this was a topic) lower prices than western european nations.
Not sure if this is correct or it could have changed for some countries outside the EU. I live in SA and I can buy tokens and put them on the AH. It just works out very expensive because of the exchange rate.
I am in China but play on EU Realms, but I am fairly certain I can buy tokens? It appears also in my shop.
But well I founded my account when I was still living in my home and I still use a German credit card to pay.
So if that is any indication, can you not buy tokens with any credit card then?
article basically states that you cannot buy tokens that doesn’t belong to your region.
So if you create an NA account you can buy NA tokens, Taiwan account can buy Taiwan tokens, EU account can buy EU Tokens.
As far as I am aware you cannot play on a different region with your account anyways?
With an EU account I can’t play on NA, why should I be able to buy NA tokens then???
Unless of course you play on Oce and Oce doesn’t have tokens at all or something?
Well that is 3 of us that have confirmed we can purchase tokens and sell them. OP needs to make sure that on check out his actually buying from the EU store and not the US or another region’s store.
I’m not really sure what’s going on here, I’m getting US prices and don’t see the Token anywhere. Going to EU Battle.net Shop asks me to check in-game shop for purchaseable Tokens. I don’t physically live in the EU.
Should add that when I tried to use a Token to add Balance to my account, I could not. Have a CS topic about it from last year I think, and was told it’s not possible for me.
this looks like you are in the character selection screen…
You can only buy the token when you log into the game with one of you characters and open the ingame shop, there is an extra tap for the token that you can buy, isn’t it?
me neither, but everything is still shown in EU.
maybe check whether your account cache has something set to NA suddenly that causes problems.
The only thing that always happens to me is if I try to log into the blizzard website shop it always directs me to the taiwan shop or NA shop, so i have to manually change the URL then to get back to the EU shop xD
I think what he/she means is that she cannot see the “token tab” in the shop (maybe to check the gold price) but when he/she bought one from the AH for gold, she cannot add it to the bnet balance. At least that is how I understand it.
If you cannot add it to the bnet balance is seem to be a problem how the account is linked?
No idea then, didn’t happen to me yet.
I am not aware of all of them but I can confirm they are not really linked either.
Tawain has their own region
HK has their own region
China has basically their own game.
Would assume korea and japan are not in the same region either and then their might be a south asian server for malysia, thailand etc. and maybe an extra server for phillipines?
outside of EU und NA it seems to be more like region specific because of currency stuff and regulations I assume?
It is actually surprising that russia is connected with the EU realms considering I cannot make a char there with my EU account unless I change something in the setting or something (I remember I get language blocked or something)
The term ‘EU’ can mean either the European Union or refer to the continent of Europe. it’s ambiguous but seeing as the UK is NOT in the EU (European Union) but it is still physically in EU (Europe) and we can buy/sell tokens with no problems.
For accuracy perhaps we should enforce some rules as to the capitalization and have EU and Eu to differentiate. But hey, this is the internet and literacy rules are generally thrown in the bin.
BTW, ‘EU’ isn’t a word it’s an acronym, Like WoW, LOL, GTFO etc. etc.
