‘‘I don’t know what to do. I don’t have all the answers. I can tell you, almost no work is being done on World of Warcraft right now while this obscenity plays out. And that benefits nobody - not the players, not the developers, not the shareholders.’’
Well… If anything it sounds like someone cares at least, And are worried.
I don’t know. Blizzard usually always have patches and expansions planned ahead in order,
But might be this delay is so bad they are that behind to the point of having no planned patch ahead after the one they gave now.
If so then the answer is yes, 9.2 Will propably be more delayed. Unless it’s a filler mini patch to buy time for a bigger and better planned one to get ahead on. And they would be brainstorming ideas and plans for the future as we speak. I’m just speculating tho…
Strap in for a long ride boys… They have a choice now… leave SL and just let us fester whilst making hopefully a great 10.0 (maybe they could suspend subs… but pigs and flying and all that.) OR just leave the game to slowly decompose like an undead, release 10.0 in a few years with no one left to play it.
Either way if they want the game to survive they need to do something to make SL more appealing AND attract (ex-WoW) FFXIV players back.
Make stuff account wide like many have been asking for, sort out the WTS situation (or just make a tab and endorse it - dont care either way.) Fix the botting issues (particularly in classic)
It’s time to say “Goodbye” to WoW development forever. There’s a reason Tolkien didn’t write a sequel to LOTR and the children of Arven and Aragorn. It just doesn’t work anymore. If the company that developed WoW cannot put heart and soul in it anymore, call it quits.
Instead, it’s time to preserve what has been done. Re-release all the expansions and legacy servers, in a true manner. And let the people play through the whole story all over again.
Weird thing of me to ponder… But I wonder if Blizzard devs and all go trough Artist Burnout sometimes. How they deal with it if so. And where they get inspiration and their spirit from again to keep on going.
I wouldn’t blame them if they where going trough some Burnout right now. The workload and time and all on them. All of us players and everything. Wonder how they deal with these things.
9.1 was about two months late. This state won’t last that long, the investigation & lawsuit will take months if not years and life won’t magically stop until then. In a matter of days or week they’ll return to work, hopefully after taking steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
If anything i’d say whatever caused the 9.1’s delays is more likely to delay 9.2 than this. SL itself was slightly delayed but it was attributed to polish, the content itself was released months prior. Was it just like Wod’s “We got a lot of new devs & their formation slowed us down” or something else ?
This analogy makes no sense but whatever rocks your boat.
The quarterly report begs to differ
Anyone foolish enough to suggest anything like that at blizzard would deserve to be fired on the spot. What you’re suggesting basically amount to telling Devs to ask blizzard to lay them off with no other justification than “It doesn’t work”, despite being earning the company millions every month…
A re-release of older xpacks will only last that long (Just look at the state of classic after the release of BCC if you need any proof of that), and not require any of the devs or artists. So massive lay-offs for basically nothing in return ? Amazing idea.
This is a disaster! I wouldnt be surprised if the next expansion is atleast 2 years away, considering how things are going i guess we should be happy if there will be another expansion at all.
There’s not a doubt in my mind that they are. We ran out of story years ago and improvising for so long is pretty draining, even more so when there’s tight deadlines that needs to be met.
Tolkien actually did start writing a sequel to LoTR which was exactly that; it was called “The New Shadow”. What little Tolkien had written of it was published by his son Christopher as part of “The Peoples of Middle Earth” in 1996. In fact, Tolkien was writing about Middle Earth basically right up until his death, so it’s not the best analogy.
That being said, stories definitely can go on for too long, which Wow is beginning to suffer from IMO. Although tbh, I think that more has to do with them throwing out all of the remaining plot points as patches in BfA than anything else.
I think they fail with story because the people who love wow
love wow becuase of AZEROTH stories not marvel universe thanos nonsence
I really want to have expansions like cataclysm
we can say it was terrible expansion yes
but it had dragons CULT and
i want expansion about people of the azeroth i don’t care about some dudes on the other planet
and if they want to do that
let them attack our planet so we can fight them here
Imagine instead of shadowlands we have expansion based on
scarlet crusade trying to take eastern kingdoms down
Definitely in that camp. I don’t want alien worlds involved. I liked the setting of BfA a lot, systems aside. MoP was an environmental highlight I regret not spending more time with.
It’s ridiculous that he has the audacity to say players are “part of the problem”, when they have been patiently paying their sub every month and getting subpar content, even before the whole lawsuit situation.
This is completely ridiculous indeed, saying that we are part of the problem while he is an actual dev that was next to people being harassed is completely disgusting to me.
Doesnt matter if they work on it 100% or not…a chunk of us will most likely take time off as soon as our current subs expire. On that point, I would advise people with recurring subs to double check if their payment details arent set for automatic renewal. I assume quite a few of us,on six months, might be due to end fairly soon.
I came back for 9.1 paid 2 months sub…but there is no fuking way I’m going to re-sub again after the 2 months are over this game is so boring outdated and old they just can’t do anything new to keep me here for another 8+ months waiting for 9.2
