Node cap interrupt in RBG - shadowy duel

Evening all,

I’m rolling Veng Dh for RBGs at the moment and having a problem when shadowy duel is sent my way.
I’m told Fiery brand interrupts node caps(flags in AB or EoTS) for 10 secs which should give enough time to get out of the duel and glaive attacker. But each time I’ve tried this the brand does damage but doesn’t interrupt the flag cap.

So, what am I missing here?

it shouldn’t interrupt it, it’s not direct damage, is it? I mean aside from the initial hit.
