This is basically my only criticism of the expansion so far, aside from a few bugs and a disappointing set of pre-launch animated shorts.
There are exclamation marks everywhere, and it feels overwhelming. I know you can hide those icons, but the content is still there.
As you reach level 80 and finish the campaign, you’ve got this completionist mode active, don’t you? You want to explore everything, unlock all the features, get ready for S1, and jump into the endgame progression.
You almost stop reading quest text at this point, in part because you’ve already seen the best parts and it does get a bit repetitive, but also due to impatience and the sheer number of sidequests there are.
I just think this is a shame, and a bit wasteful on Blizzard’s part. Why not stagger these quests and release a few new ones every week, or rework them into little World Quests or something. It’s possible to tell a story and offer content at the same time. Perhaps at least give them a separate map marker from more important quests, or better yet combine them all into a little ‘hub’ like is currently being done with cities such as Dornagal. One special quest that sends you across a mini-campaign of sorts. Instead of 50 individual side-quests, offer like three per zone but make them longer and more cohesive.
i am about to vomit trying to complete these side quest. Questing is basically “kill x mobs, loot y thing” and nothing more. dont we really have enough of that ?
you’ll tell me “then don’t do quests”
they are made mandatory for reputation farming. and worse, it is no way clear which quests do give repu and which not. even worse, there are some super insignificant quests that give more quests that give more quests and repu at the end of that stupd insignificant quests lines… and that’s why i am vomiting.
this sht feels like i am back in the frustrating days of westfall where i tried to collect claws and beaks and sht to make westfall stew for 3 days long. urrrrggghhhh !
i have been doing “only quests” for 6th day in a row now, and i still have much more to do. disgusting.
I think having side quests available is a good way to level alts without having to repeat the same quests over again.
This is how wow used to be back before Cata.
They’ve done a good thing by remove Renown from them so you don’t need to do them all on your main (which I felt like you had to in DF).
These quests should really be in areas outside the main campaign. They should be where you go explore the land and learn about the peoples and cultures out there. World Building.
They shouldn’t be about renown/ rep or unlocking main content. They should be side content.
They should be entirely ignorable if that’s what you want to do.
but you need them for the loremaster and normal flying, did the campaign and all the side quests on one toon got the loremaster after turning the last quest in now all my toons don’t need to use the dragon stile any more, some like the dragon gliding stuff i don’t.
I have 0 issues pacing myself with quests and taking my time to read them. The first character I did completed the campaign in that zone then the side quests from the top to the bottom/left to right. I also did this thing called taking a break now and then!
You only need to do the main quest to unlock steady flying. I got the War Within Pathfinder achievement on the first or second day. I still haven’t done all side quests.
Meanwhile I want more side quests and storylines because I love every tiny bit of lore I can get. I miss the Mists of Pandaria questing where it was endless quests and rewards. I was so immersed, so happy during MOP Remix that I wish they’d do an encore of it.
