I don’t know how much experience these people have, but I have played quite many a battleground, and I can tell a few things.
- Rogues are the most OP class. I never play them, but they’re the ones ruining my day the most. They stunkill me, they appear out of nowhere, vanish before I can do anything, and often stungank me while I can’t do anything.
They have superior damage, superior ‘avoiding damage’ (smoke bombs, cloak, and zillion other ‘can’t target or hit it’ things), they have superior stealth, superior speed, and they heal. Did I mention they can reset any fight as many times as they want?
The MOST OP class, ever, and never nerfed properly. Tired of these !@&%#s.
So basically, if you manage to see them, you can’t target them. If you can target them, you can’t damage them. If you can damage them (after being stunned for 20 seconds or more, during which they can stab, poison, bleed you to death, preventing YOU from stealthing, too!), they vanish + heal and stun you again. Basically you are dead if you encounter one of these things.
I don’t know how ‘noob friendly’ it is, but you rarely see any rogue you can cope with as a DH. So don’t believe the hype and myths about DHs that people spew here.
- DK pull. DKs pretty much never die anyway, they somehow superheal themselves and they have annoyingly LONG immune to magic. So if you’re a caster, good luck trying to kill or even damage one of these things.
How many a flag carrying effort has a simple DK pull ruined, I can’t even calculate, and it makes me so angry. This is the one other thing after rogues that I want nerfed, but it’s never nerfed. Stupid DK pull from mortal kombat should not be a part of any game mechanics, IT RUINS EVERYTHING.
DKs always pull me in the middle of their big group, then they stungank me and I can’t escape - regardless if I play DH tank or DH havoc, makes no difference. It even happened just a few minutes ago even though I tried to be careful. This is an absolute, nonsensical, brutal and second-most-annoying OP thing in the game that they should’ve nerfed years ago together with rogue, but never did. Nothing is more OP than DK pull.
- Huntar. I think this class is DESIGNED as a ‘newbie class’, because it has so many OP things about it. Every time I see huntar even 200 kilometers away as a quick silhouette flash in the horizon, I will run to the opposite direction as fast as I can.
Huntars combine melee (pets) with ranged, except you can’t interrupt their shooting, and their ‘slowing arrow’ is incredibly OP, even affects DH in any mode, there’s no bubble in the world that would stop this from working. And it slows you down to such a crawl, good luck trying to escape after that.
Huntars are super mobile and fast, they can jump vast distances quickly, their pets are as fast as you can be, and always at your buttocks, slowing you, stunning you and eating your HP like it’s cotton candy. No point in killing pets, since huntar will be ‘machinegunning’ those arrows into your face faster than you can say ‘why can’t I escape this thing’.
If you ever encounter a huntar, for a DH, it will be like trying to walk in deep tar while being machinegunned to death in stun. These bstrds can also stealth like rogues, they can sometimes pull you or themselves with some chain thing, their pets can have really OP abilities, and they can just spam those arrows like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t think any class can readily counter a huntar in any way, and it usually takes a group to kill this thing.
Also, it can BUBBLE (these should all be removed), and run while bubbled, unlike mages. DHs don’t even have a bubble, netherwalk is so nerfed, it can even be slowed by huntars. There’s nothing a DH can do to counter anything a huntar does, but even if it somehow can, huntar can bubble, run away, stealth, heal, and sic its pets at you while the huntar itself is running somewhere far away.
- Paladins and Fire Mages
As tank DH, I was very quickly chased down and killed by a Paladin in Twin Peaks. I tried to jump and then use a glider, but the Paladin got me murdered long before I could click the glider. I tried everything I had to escape, but tank DH just doesn’t have tools to escape anything anymore.
Shortly after I resurrected in that same BG, a fire mage saw me. I thought, I can just imprison it and continue my way. Not so. It quickly polyed me, then ‘greater pyro’ until I my HP had gone down considerably - I tried to escape, it appeared right next to me, froze me, continued casting those super OP fireball things, while I tried to interrupt it. By the time I could run again, my HP was down to around 5% and the fire mage brutally finished me off without any problems.
Couldn’t escape. Again. Tank DH has been so nerfed down, there’s no point in playing it.
Havoc DH is also extremely weak, easy to kill, has nothing ‘special’ it can do, no running in stealth, no countering anything those OP classes I mentioned above can easily do - no mobility, no damage, etc. And the CC is lousy and ineffective, even warriors just keep going even after I imprison them. Couldn’t even kill a priest with many people helping, the priest wasn’t even a healer!
So using Havoc DH as some kind of ‘good newbie class’ is an alarming thing - why would people suggest this? It’s absolute pants, as the kids say these days. You get stunned, ganked and die over and over again.
DHs have never given me problems in BGs - sure, sometimes they can kill me (especially when I play a DH), but they never register as a ‘major problem’. In fact, every time I see a DH, I feel relief, because I know they don’t have fancy abilities like stealth while running, they can’t blink, they can’t bubble, they can’t CC me for 20 seconds in a row… so at least I know I can probably kill them.
Another point; when playing havoc, sometimes I can’t do anything. I don’t mean, because I am stunned, but everything in the action bars are actually ‘greyed out’ or ‘non-usable’. I have to often just wait for something to become ‘usable’.
It wasn’t like this in Legion, but I guess they have to ruin every little thing until PvP has nothing fun about it at all.
But most importantly, it’s pointless to play battlegrounds as ally, because we win maybe 2 per night/day, and you have to play the whole day/night to get those two wins. If you’re lucky.
No matter what class you choose to play, get used to just losing, losing, losing, losing, especially every single ‘epic’ BG, and especially Ashran (had like three Ashrans today and few yesterday, and I still don’t have ‘Ashran Victory’ achievement).
IoC is also always a slow, slow loss - you just look at the points on our side go down, while theirs stay up… then they stungank you as a group if you try to go even near hangar, etc.
This is the normal, usual daily DH life. I am sure rogue has much more fun stories to tell, playing a DH is depressing and really painful.
So, choose DH ONLY if you enjoy being depressed and in constant pain because of always losing and being easily stunganked by a Paladin, Fire Mage, Rogue, huntar or DK that you can never escape. And even if you escape, the DK will pull you back or rogue will stun you for 7 seconds, then 5 more, then 3 more, than stab you to death in ‘disorient’.
Good luck in any case, BGs are just not fun to play because of all the imbalances and their team always being supergeared and OP, and ours being normal casual team with normal gear.
