Noob LF friendly helping guild for new character

Hi guys! I refer to myself as a complete noob, but got a lvl 79 hunter and 110 demon hunter on stormscale from 2017. Due to broken friendship I quit, but I really miss playing. I forgot everything so I feel like Iā€™m starting over completely.

Iā€™ve got a busy life so Iā€™m looking for a casual but active (18+) guild who welcomes noobs, with members who are willing to teach me a thing or 2 (orā€¦100). I want to start over so not bound to a realm. I am very much willing to learn and do raids and stuff when Iā€™m a bit more familiar with everything. I donā€™t have friends playing WoW so I thought Iā€™d give it a try here. (Who am I? Iā€™m Dutch [so GMT+1], girl, 26yo)

Thanks!!
(P.s. Yeah this worgen warlock I made to start again, but itā€™s no fun without friends)

Welcome back!

Iā€™m glad youā€™re not tied to a realm, because that Worgen is doomed, Iā€™m afraid. :frowning: Stormscale is something like 98% Horde, with almost no Alliance; Alliance wither on the vine there, so you will want to make any Alliance characters on a realm that can support them.

Iā€™m sorry to say it would be unusual for this ad to attract a guild notice. Thatā€™s just not how society in the game works.

There is a cross-realm Alliance Community Scared of Dungeons that I would warmly recommend when you are at max level:

but the essential problem is that itā€™s not very practical for people at max level to play with levellers - and about 95% of all gameplay is at max level, and in the other 5% levellers are divided by expansion. Yes, there are ways around that now, with Party Sync, but it wonā€™t work consistently unless youa re levelling with someone specific.

You might get an offer to be Recruited, if youā€™re eligible. Recruit a Friend gives benefits for the recruiter. And sometimes it does work out. But too often the recruit is abandoned, worse off than they were.

I hope you do find some group to join.

Thanks GrƔinne, for your reply.
Good to know now that Stormscale is doomed for alliance, i prefer a more divided realm. Iā€™ve seen a few topics here from newcomers, so I thought this was the right way to search for a good guild. Especially because I have no clue what realm to choose now.

Iā€™ll keep Scared of Dungeons in mind tho, I remember that I too was a bit affraid and as a newcomer was kicked out a few times. Not very helpful, if youā€™re trying to do better and learn. I mean I understand that I am not yet of any value to guilds, and most of the players are vets whoā€™ve been playing for 10000 hours. But ey, gotta start somewhere haha.

If youā€™re going Alliance, then my personal top two shortlist would be
Silvermoon
Argent Dawn

Very different realms, but both excellent in different ways.

Silvermoon is The Big City for Alliance. Whatever youā€™re looking for, you will find it there - along with lots that youā€™re not interested in, so you may have to do a bit of sifting.

Argent Dawn is the big Role Play realm. You donā€™t have to be a serious roleplayer there, though; just respect people doing their RP, and donā€™t disrupt it. It has almost everything that Silvermoon has, but it also has more of a sense of community. (Also, I love the Trade Chat, even when it is monopolised by Brexit. :stuck_out_tongue: )
https://www.argentarchives.org/

My suggestion: read the forums a bit to get a sense. Maybe contact someone in a guild that has an interesting post. Then make a human on each, run to Stormwind during prime time, watch Trade Chat go by (though you may need to be a speed reader or get a filtering addon like Badboy to keep up with Silvermoon, since the boost ads just. do. not. stop.)

ā€œMore divided realmsā€ used to have their value, at least back in the PvP days. However, with CRZ and War Mode, it is now better to roll on a realm where your faction is in a sizeable majority.

Thanks again for the fast reply and information, very good to know!
I had to google some stuff, cuz I really am a noob. I think I prefer HORDE for now, because thatā€™s what I did in 2017 and I feel a bit more comfortable starting there again.
Do you have a suggestion on what realm for Horde? No RP

Googling is good, but will find a lot of stuff that is out of date. With every patch, old info becomes wrong, so you want to know the sites that keep their info current:

https://www.wowhead.com/ for quests, items, maps, guides.

https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/ for how to build and play your class

https://realmpop.com/eu.html for realm population

https://www.wow-professions.com/ for professions

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Wowpedia for backstory and lore

https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons for addons

There are lots more, but those should get you started.

Horde-side, Draenor is the equivalent of Silvermoon.

If you have already have Horde on Stormscale, I believe that is quite a viable realm as well.

You may hear Tarren Mill, Twisting Nether, and Kazzak mentioned for Horde. I donā€™t play on any of those, but I would consider Tarren Mill. However, a lot of people on all three are pretty heavily focused on hardcore pursuits, Twisting Nether seems to have a lot of non-English speakers, and Kazzak has a reputation for ā€¦ impatience, so unless you want to get competitive, they may not be for you.
