Noob question about Pre-Patch

Hey there. I am new to WoW and this will be my very first Pre-Patch, my question is, do I need to have Shadowlands bought in order to play during Pre-Patch? Or will I still be able to play in it if I only have BfA?

I was planning about buying SL only somewhere in October.

No you do not!

You can also continue playing game after SL launch without it, just new zones would be locked for you as the levels. And most people would move onward. But you can enjoy pre-patch just as is. No worries!

You can play the pre-patch with BFA. The level squish will impact everything.

Thank you, and @Chusue for your replies, I’m relieved I will still be able to do the pre-patch quests and stuff right when it comes out without having to squeeze my wallet.

pre-patch is more of a big patch that arrives before the expansion, so they could implement the big stuff beforehand. It still belongs to that expansion and not the upcoming one.

Consider this pre-patch a pathway to the story of shadowlands, and the different changes such as level squish, class changes, etc.
