Not a goodbye post, but feedback

So… When my current sub runs out, I’ll be taking a long break from WoW. I just wanted to leave my reasons here for doing so. I don’t expect the devs to do anything about it; in fact I don’t even think any dev will even see it, but I just need to get it off my chest.

My reasons for quitting DF:

First and foremost: Not enough worthwhile content for me to do.

I’m predominately a world content player and even though there’s probably more and more varied world content than there’s been in years; it just doesn’t feel worth doing.

I like progression on my character; this is severely limited. The upgrade system they’ve put into place in 10.1 might allow me to get a little bit more ilvl than before, but the system itself is a big barrier. It’s not fun; when you get an item and it’s just not clear at a glance whether this item, in the long run, will or won’t be an upgrade, then that’s a problem.

As for other types of rewards: Well, it’s just so subjective whether that’s worth it for you or not. For me in 10.1 nothing is really worth the effort it takes. I’m not going to grind god knows how long to get a large amount of currency to buy a hat that looks funny, but completely ridiculous. I’m just not.

Second reason: The megadungeon in 10.1.5

Once again Blizzard releases mythic only content. STOP IT. It’s so insulting to part of your playerbase to just exclude them from this new content. Forcing them to wait months to experience content that, by then, is no longer relevant or current is UTTERLY DISGUSTING. And that’s assuming they WILL release an heroic version; which is not something they said they will do (I’m assuming because that’s how it’s been in the past few expansions).

Third reason: The story and setting ‘just isn’t doing it’ for me.

I don’t care about the black dragonflight storyline; not even a little. And I love Ebyssian as a character, but damn man… This story is just so uninteresting to me.
Add to that, that the new zone is a big cave. I just don’t feel comfortable there. It’s depressing and drab and claustrophobic. I don’t want to spend months and months playing my game there.

Fourth reason: Dragonriding.

I don’t hate the activity itself, but I hate not being able to use the mounts that I love.
I also hate that they seem to be pushing the activity beyond what it’s supposed to be; transportation. I DON’T want it in my gameplay; I really don’t. I don’t want dragonriding quests, I don’t want dragonriding events. None of it.

So that’s my list. The first reason is the primary reason; I just don’t have enough worthwhile content to do in 10.1 and this doesn’t seem to be changing in 10.1.5.
I’ll probably be back for 10.2. If the new zone in that patch is cool and not a depressing dark place.

Cheers.

I have yes. And it’s come to a boiling point; combined with my other reasons: Enough reason to take a long break.

No, you’re going about that backwards. Blizzard is not providing the playerbase with OPTIONS. They’re forcing people into this 1 single difficulty and that really is not okay imo.

They should add heroic and M+ difficulties right away. Not months down the line.

Need to get my point across that I’m very upset that they keep doing this nonsense.
They’ve done it several times now already and I’ve been upset every single time, but this time I’m going to let my wallet speak for me.

Agreed. I deleted my old account last year, and only been playing Classic until a month~ ago. Now I’m back. Feels refreshing with a new account as well.

Fair argument.

Mythic isnt hard though, but I guess if someone doesnt wanna do harder than heroic/LFR, that’s their choice.

Fair.

I’m sure they’ll make the Mega dungeon a Heroic eventually though - they have done so thus far (I think).

Did you try to join an m+/raid group as an off meta dps class/spec

You aren’t excluded, just stubborn to the point of ridiculousness.

Thank you for yours, you’ll be missed so much!

(Did I capture the fake sincerity as much as you?)

You did, but you failed to see the purpose of this thread.
It’s not about me quitting/taking a break. It’s about issues the game has.

But thank you so much for giving it a shot. I really appreciate it.

It’s about issues you have with the game. Not issues the game has. Not the same thing at all.

Blizzard are doing what they are doing for reasons you know but refuse to adapt to.

Aren’t you the same person who complained about dying in warmode when you can turn it off anytime you want?

This expansion? No.

Previous ones? No idea, I’ve never followed the whole ‘‘meta’’ thing, so I dunno. I also made my own groups.

Yep take a break, dragon riding is a gimmick and sucks imo. I’ve taken a break from the whole expansion as I’m not interested in this woke Disneyland Spiro the dragon simulator. Also their subs I believe are very low for this so called “great” expansion too. Plus the story is awful and the dracthyr are even worse.

But that’s just me, and my 6 months break has done wonders as I’m back into classic and enjoying wow again. Although them not adding RDF is very annoying and imo opinion their attempt to make us play the current woke abomination, never gonna happen for me though

Enjoy your break dude

Dragon Riding is actually pretty fun. Wish they would invent something for ground riding too, but it’ll be hard to top Guild Wars 2 in that regard where all mounts are extremely fun to ride.

Eh I get the bits of it. I personally enjoy a mix match of things. Bit of world content bit of normal raids at times, and side pvp and so on. So for me there’s a lot of content.

Though I have friends who prefer to stick to the more immersive/casual side of things, and they had similar takes on the topic. It is not a hidden fact that most of the content blizz pumps out is for more ‘serious’ parts of the game. Mythic plus, high end raiding, challenges, and so on.

So I get that, a matter of preference. Though I wouldn’t say that they are excluding anyone, it’s more so that wow might not be for you. At least not in it’s current state. I would advise trying out ESO, lots of open world stuff to do and exploration and what not.

I personally quite like the current state of the story but again personal take, overall, sadly game won’t change, majority of the player base is here for the mythic plus, and rated pvp and so on. It’s quite evident really, to the point where people will treat normal dungeons or timewalking as mythic plus.

“Yeah well you know, that’s just like your opinion man”

The reason you’re being told this so often is that it’s true. You don’t even want to try. At all. There’s no reason, you just don’t.

Can I have your gold?

Mandatory joke question aside, I see all your points and agree 100%, however I personally can live with all that. The main reason I’ll quit is the bugs all the time and “not that good” performance frankly.

If I make enough gold, I’ll return once Aberrus is fully available for LFR to finish the story and reach reknown 20 with the Niffen. After that I’ll see.

Edit, side note: Doing Zereth Mortis content now, and while it doesn’t really feel like Warcraft as people were saying, it really struck me what an awesome zone it was and still is. If we ignore the “not so good” main storyline campaign, everything about it was top notch, the design, settings, lore, raid, encounters, progression, wqs and dailies, everything… how did they get from that to DF in just one patch is beyond me.

WoW’s solo content has been dross for years, and if I decided not to do raids or mythic plus then I too would rather quit than engage with said “content.”

I’m just here to see the sad people attacking OP just because they are taking a break from their dear dear game.

Also, good luck Tah

You can’t criticize this game even when it’s constructive or the blizz simps will be frothing at the mouth with rage while eating their Dorito sandwiches in mothers basement
