Greetings, i rarely post on forums, but this time after 3 failed attempts to solve my issue, game masters suggested that i should actually come here, so my voice will be heard. In-game feedback is not an option, i do believe it goes straight into trashcan, no one reads it. Also, i believe this topic is different from similar ones about same issue, thats why im starting new one.
Thing is, i used to PvP in older expansions, and i’m missing some of my elite apperances. I’m not sure if i sold elite items to a vendor by mistake before transmogrification collection was introduced (i would blame studing and partying, playing WoW in careless state of mind for that xd), or if they miss because of some sort of bug (game masters assured me that there is no bug, so i guess its first option). I miss various malevolent elite items, but i still have malevolent elite axe in my bank, but i don’t really care about those. What i really care about is Ruthless Elite PvP set for my Death Knight, wich happens to be Ruthless Hero of the Horde. I had various responses from game masters, and i had a feeling they are bound by some internal rule to close all topics associated with restorting old elite pvp appearances, doesn’t matter how big the proof is that player actually had them.
From what i heard, people get different answers when they try to contact gms on the issue, most common is:
“We cannot verify that you had those items, thats why we cannot restore them.”
There was even an issue that i know about, when after contacting Blizzard 1 Game master told player that he actually do have some of the missing elite pvp items in his collection, he is just unable to see it and should look closer, and later another gm contacted the player and told him that was a mistake, and he will not get anything restored.
But in my case, not ONLY i had GM confirmation that “i had” those items on my character long time ago, i also got some iron proof of eligibility - Ruthless - Hero of The Horde on the corresponding character. Can you guys imagine a HOTH that lacks elite PvP set? Even the most dead battlegroup would had HOTH requirement way higher than elite PvP set’s requirement. Especially in such an alive time for WoW as Cata. And of course i obviously had enough currency to buy elite PvP set bcz i was able to get this title.
So, im gonna post two GM responses below, and after that i’m gonna actually talk about the purpose of this topic, and what i actually want now to happen.
Response 1 (Confirmation):
Specialist Game Master Gobarannie here. Hope you’re doing great!
The developers were actually going to put a way to re-obtain old elite transmogs you’d earned in the game, but the community had a pretty strong outcry against it, I’m afraid. Enough that they opted not to make them available.
That being the case, since we specifically chose not to make them available at the request of our players, I’m not able to restore them just for you, even though we can verify you had them.
Hope I can help out more next time our paths cross!
PS - I’ll leave you with one of my favorite GM jokes:
Why can’t gnomes be paladins?
…
Because they can’t reach the light!
Response 2 (Suggestion to go on Forum):
my name is Game Master Thrandakaar. Thank you for being patient with our response, we’re incredibly busy at the moment, but we’re hard at work to reduce the time to answer again, so let’s get right to your case.
Not being able to use these sets is always frustrating, so it’s understandable to get in touch with us about it.
At the moment, however, as my colleagues have explained to you multiple times already, there are no bugs known to us, and as such we’re not able to provide you with these transmog-sets, as much as I would have loved to help you out there.
Additionally, our developers have given us Game Masters no way to forward these kinds of things at all.
But there are two ways to make your voice be heard. One is to use the “Submit feedback or bug report” Button in your support menu and for more detailed feedback you can use our forums. In both cases our community-team will aggregate this feedback, possibly with additions from other fellow players in our forums, and forward it to our developers for further review.
I do want to apologize for any trouble caused and thank you for your understanding.
All the best,
My thoughts:
First of all, i do not blame the GMs or Blizzard for not solving this issue. GMs got a complicated job and they are just doing it, and Blizzard as a company probably puts focus on the problems that matter for the BIGGEST PART of WoW community, and as you know people with old elite PvP sets are probably minority no1 cares about. It is a predictable behavior.
What really got me, is that for some reason Blizzard believes that community is against restoration of old elite PvP sets for people that are by far eligible, i believe this is false claim, or at least, outdated.
Blizzard did allow people to purchase elite WOD and MOP PvP illusions if they had Duelist or HOTH/A in MoP or WoD, why they won’t do the same with old Elite PvP sets? Make it Gladiator/HOTH/A requirement (easy to track from technical point of view), but introduce legacy elite PvP vendors! Theese sets probably will look dope after graphical revamp in next expansions, why would you guys not WANT the best players that had provable high rating during corresponding seasons to shine in your game? Why let previous design team efforts to go to waste? I’m not even asking to go accountwide in this case, like it happend with gladiator dragons.
Epilogue:
Of course. im just a player. Too much of players actually “demand stuff” from devs nowadays, i believe this may not be a good trend. Its not like i lack cool new transmogs or something.
It is confirmed by GM that i had the set, and my proof of being eligible is by far beyond that is needed.
Adding legacy PvP Set Vendor with high trackable old achievs like Glad or HOTH/A as requirement would be absolutely fair. ESPECIALLY keeping in mind that possible big graphic updates for older content may be on the horizon. Many folks (from the “legacy pvp” player minority lol) would be happy because of this addition, if it would go accountwide - even more happier (its just a PvP set, not a m+ or PvP r1 title afterall), that would mean cool unique gear for alts!
Don’t get me wrong, im not like “ultra obsessed” with elite PvP sets, i personally believe that WoW PvP is pseudo-esport and a waste of time at this point in the game. For me WoW is just a RPG game that i kinda like.
I just don’t really enjoy being denied quality items that i deserve, meanwhile you guys include Swift Spectral Tigers into subscriptions…
