Not using target frame

I’m trying to design a minimalistic UI, I was just wondering is there a reason every steamer still uses target frames instead of just getting information from enemy name plate like an addon?

I’ve noticed when I play the game I don’t really look at the frames and more I’m looking at the enemy’s as there could be multiple mobs to watch out for interrupts so a single target frame isn’t that useful anyway

Just wondering if my pea brain is missing anything

I’ve seen UIs that put the player and target frame around the player in the center, in a form of ( o ), with free estate clear of all other stuff around the screen. The other bars and what not would be hidden during combat and/or till moused over.

Like a weak aura ? If I found one like this it would be cool. But would it give the relevant info

IceHUD does that. It used to be popular in the early years of WoW, and it’s still maintained today.

Thanks I might check it out. Any idea if you can set them to only show in combat?

No idea, haven’t used it in over a decade. I just saw the description of it by Beerwolf and remembered.
