Now WoW doesn't start anymore

Just got this issue and found this thread, what a surprise, 162 posts from players over the span of 24+ hours and 0 posts from Blizzard. quite the standard it seems when it comes to their customer service skills.

Played earlier today after the scan and fix… went offline for food and now it isn’t working again… and still no blizzard reply, this company is a joke.

Now it started, NOW.

same problem. i was online for like 2hours starting at 14h . now i’m trying to start again and its not working. click to play on battle.net - launching and back to play. in taskmanager i can see wow open but its not launching

Oh wow, I had it happen yesterday late at night. Then it started opening one by one really late while I was in middle of something. I suddenly had 5 WoW games open in my taskbar :'D
Glad it’s not just me…

After half hour of trying boot the game I decided to check gpu drivers. There was update from 1st July designated among others for Diablo IV. After installing of drivers and rebooting PC game works as should. Maybe that info help fix WoW for somebody else.

same issue here. just doesnt start at all. a scan and repair seems to work. but whenever i close the game it is back to not launching.

Yup, borked for me too. Won’t launch from the bnet app or by running the .exe directly.

Just…nothing. No processes start up in task manager, it just doesn’t do…well, anything.

closed everything from wow and battle.net clicked scan and repair. now it works again but for how long :stuck_out_tongue:

I have brand new PC and still the problem exists. So your statement is wrong.

Was facing a similar issue. I had a windows update task (Win 11) running that was utilising my disk heavily. Paused that and wow launched okay.

Win key > search windows update settings > pause updates

I been stuck on updating even after following all it says to do been 30 mins now

Can confirm that scan and repair fixed it for me too

Just delete the d3d12.dll file in the game’s installation folder, verify the files and then update if necessary. It works for me

Same problem here.

The following worked for me, after repair had not:

  • Uninstall Battle.net
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find Battle.net and uninstall it.
  • It won’t uninstall your games by default (they’ll be redetected after reinstall).
  • Delete leftover folders (important):
  • Delete:
    • C:\ProgramData\Battle.net
    • C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Battle.net
    • %APPDATA%\Battle.net
    • %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Battle.net
  • (Copy-paste those paths into Windows Explorer.)
  • Restart your PC
  • Just to clear out any weird lingering processes.
Remember, you will need to link to your WoW install when you’ve finished installing the Launcher. GL!

Same issue here, unable to login to game, has been running for 30 mins, still not opening the game.

thank you, i just did this and it opened in milliseconds. Sending love to you.

Started yesterday, took 5+ min for game to launch.
Worked like normal when I started playing today, then I lagged out, or something, and it wouldn’t launch again.
Scan & Repair fixed it for now.

Removing the “Battle.net → Agent” as well as “Blizzard → Battle.net” cache fixed it here.
