Very intentional after seeing the twitter posts from certain contracted writers. Which is unfortunate since what they are ending up doing is trying to add inclusion and combat racism with… racism.
Their implementation on exile reach on the other hands was great though, new characters using the new customizations. Simple as that…
It would make more sense if they took the elder scrolls aproach with things like Hammerfell, but since they’re not introducing new “living” zones in SL, certain types of people would probably be unable to wait 2 years or such for a new expansion to introduce that.
her skin color is irrelevant but it was never confirmed as dark skinned
as stated above, the only thing the movie canonized was her name thats all
I still don’t understand why being a black Queen is shocking. Does blizzard need to say “King Varian’s mother is black” for it to be considered canon?
She’s not from the Wrynn family. She is Married to the King and became Queen. So it makes perfect sense.
Why though? They only turned a small group of NPC’s.
I would rather they change these simple NPC’s rather than add new ones. Because I don’t know if you noticed but stormwind looks like it will blow up with NPC’s.
You have humans
Dwarves/gnomes
High elves
Allied races walking everywhere
Night elf refugees
Gilnean refugees
It’s becoming crowded. What blizzard did is perfectly fine in my eyes. It’s not like they changed Turalyon or Anduin, otherwise it would’ve been a problem.
I don’t think basing your canon on a movie cast makes any sense tho, that’s the only thing people are telling you.
Movie cast + Comic
Can’t be a coincidence
Actually no, as long as it is a mixed couple the children can be born white. They can be born white even if both parents are black, but then we are talking about very rare genetic conditions.
In fact, if the couple is mixed, they can have twins and one can be black and the other white:

Your using black and dark skinned interchangebly tho, she just seems to have darker skin tone based on a very small hand of examples.
The depiction of her brother in the movie is also sligthy diferent than in the comic
You know what consider her as whatever appearance you want.
At this point I really don’t care lol.
It just Surprises me that something as simple as skin color needs to be canonized by Blizzard’s tongue for it to be considered canon.
Like imagine Blizzard adding her ghost in Shadowlands just to prove to people she is dark skinned.
I don’t really care either way, but you were using the 2 diferent terms interchangeably and basing it on not a lot of examples
Like im confused if you think black and dark skinned are the same thing
i suppose if you had white parents while being dark skinned yourself you’d be like “im not adopted at all”
the only reason ppl say shes probably not dark skinned is because neither varian or anduin are
Do you know how genetics work?
Because sometimes you look 100% like your dad. 100% like your mom. Or a mixture of both.
Varian looks like his dad. Lighter skin and dark hair. (Actually both parents have dark hair)
Anduin looks 100% like his mother.
it seems you dont know how genetics work when it comes to skin color
Yeah… no.
Yes because I actually have a Dark skinned father and light skinned mother. I turned out to be like my mother in terms of facial appearance and skin color. pale skinned.
My siblings all have tan skin, a mixture of both.
Again. You can look like either parent, or both.
It’s not just your parents dude, there’s all sorts of dominant and recessive genes, that’s why gingers are rare for instance
What does this have to do with a Dark skinned Queen?
I’ve seen mixed children who look exactly like Varian.
And again, Why is Anduin being dragged into the conversation? He is the grandson of Taria.
He looks 100% like his blonde mother Tiffin. He even acted like her during the begging and became a priest like her
because often kids look like their grandparents instead of their parents…
also varian was never hinted at as anything other than a white dude
I’m dipping out of this conversation because you seem to be too personally invested in this, people already made their points have a nice day
