NPC's changing skin colour

…I don’t have an issue with but when it’s a mother and her 2 children wandering around Stormwind and the Mother all of a sudden gets a considerably darker skin tone than what she had, wouldn’t it make sense for her children to be if a similar colour ?

What if she shopped at the local orphanage?

She could be a mother who adopted

She could be married to a white guy

I mean King Varian’s mother is black, and he looks 100% like his father. Genetics work in mysterious ways

Good point, actually. Lots of those around after a million invasions and wars.

Erm, I beg yer pardon? Are ye positively sure that lord Varian’s mother was of a darker colour?

Varian’s mother. In the comic and in the Movie she appeared as dark skinned.

I’m not talking about Varian’s wife

Aye, indeed. My apologies, lass. I realized my mistake far too late it seems.

And that’s quite an interesting piece of info. I admit that I wasn’t aware of that. Most intriguing.

What if Varian is adopted though ! :open_mouth:

I dont think that’s canon Tiffin from what im searching is showing up with blond hair and black hair etc.

Also i’m pretty sure a lot of the comic things were retconed

The only thing canonized about Varians mom is her name being “Taria Wrynn”, her skin colour is nowhere confirmed afaik. Nor is she Lothars sister(another weird detail the movie added for no reason).

But even if she was black or any other colour they could simply explain it with magic or how Wrynn seed is dominant… plenty of options to pick from.

Might have had a holiday in Voldun!

Tiffin is Varian’s wife. Not mother.

I’m talking about his mother. Queen Taria Wrynn

It’s not just the comic. She also appeared as Dark skinned in the live action movie. It’s clearly enough proof

Movie canonized her has dark skinned.

Keep in mind though that the movie isn’t canon to the Warcraft lore.

That said, it could still be an accurate presentation of the Queen based on the comic, but I’d personally take it with a grain of salt.

Yes but why would they show her as dark skinned in the movie and the comic, if its not even canon?

Besides her appearing as Dark skinned isn’t a problem. Stormwind is diverse.

Oh, I don’t think 'tis a problem, nay. I just find it to be a bit…surprising.

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Taria_Wrynn_(film_universe)

" Taria Wrynn is a character created exclusively for Warcraft . At BlizzCon 2013, Chris Metzen and director Duncan Jones explained that they wished to create an increased emphasis upon the female presence in the series canon. Taria was later canonized for the main universe as well with World of Warcraft: Chronicle Volume 2 ."

The point is to say is that comics aren’t apt descriptions for a lot of canon.

Also the movie is not enough proof, unless you want to make some dodgy statements about other things in that movie

It would make sense yes.

They just turned some NPCs black for w/e reason.
Even the kid became black with dreadlocks.
One of the 3 female NPCs that wander around stormwind was also turned black with dreadlock hairstyle.
I don’t know if it’s just a bug or intentional but if it’s intentional then shame on Blizz.
They could’ve just made some new black NPCs that wander around just like the others instead of just turning them.
